Digital Projector for my Photo Classes May 20, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
After reading a variety of reviews, including those on Amazon, I bought this to show my Beginning Digital Photo classes how to work with digital images in PhotoShop and PhotoShop Elements.
Setup was a matter of hooking up the cables and turning on my laptop. The projection is plenty bright for computer screen reading, even in a moderately bright room. For photo editing, no surprise, the room needs to be pretty dark. ( I can't imagine any projector being so bright that photos would be really good in a light room! ) I'm projecting an 8 foot width, which works fine for my class size. All icons and text are plenty legible.
The class, ranging from young to retired, are all very impressed with the image quality (and my photos ([...] ), of course!).
We've also watched a couple DVD's with it at home, which worked very well. My son had to try some games, so he hooked up his Xbox, and spent a couple hours playing his favorites on a 12 foot wall. This also worked very well, he wasn't altogether pleased when I took it back.
I also recommended this model to our local library, for use in one of the community meeting rooms.
I can't imagine a nicer projector for the money.
Great product! May 19, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Before buying this projector, I did a lot of research and tried several other projectors as well. The most impressive one to me is Dell 4100MP which is out of production. I think this projector is amazing in this price range. It has very good image quality, vivid color, very very low or almost no noise, amazingly low heat. Notice that for some 'better' projectors, noise and heat can be the problems.
You may have noticed this projector has very low contrast. Yes this projector's image is not as sharp as some other projectors with higher contrasts, but this differece is really ok for me though I was so worried about the contrast before buying it.
Now I realize that brightness is more important than contrast. This projector is still not bright enough, so I have to keep the room dark to get better image quality. So if you can afford a more expensive projector, make sure the brightness is over 2000 lumen and the contrast is over 1000 (2000 should be ideal). Also be aware of the heat problem, because you expect to use your projector every season, don't you?
By the way, I haven't bought a projector screen, so the performance was evaluated on the wall... But I am already pretty satisfied with it.
East to Set Up May 13, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I am a klutz when it comes to setting up electronic equipment. However, I had no trouble with connecting this projector to my Dell laptop and showing a PowerPoint presentation on a screen. The projector was extremely well packed, and comes with a handy carrying case. The quick set-up guide is easy to follow. I really like some of the features of the projector: (1) quick on and quick off, (2) a door that slides over the lens to block the light when needed, (3) an easy-to-use foot to adjust the height of the projector, (4) simple buttons that adjust the top or bottom width of the projection, when because of the angle, it is not a perfect rectangle. Overall, a really nice product.
The only thing that threw me for a minute is I had to push two function keys on my Dell laptop to get it to project the slides through the projector. However, the help button on the projector brought up a help menu and told me exactly what buttons to push on various laptops. Neat.
Lite and Bright May 9, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I selected the Epson Powerlite 77c for its XGA capability, a long life lamp, its ability to zoom, and the affordable price. My first impression was the projector's weight, I found it pleasently lite. I like the slidding lens cover, assuring me the lens is always protected.
Thank you Epson for making a projector that lights up quickly and having a simple menu control. I was operating the projector right out of the box without refering to the instruction manual. It puts out a bright and sharp picture. I can project on to a 4 x 8 screen from only 10 feet away. The only concern I have is the limited zoom range, I still find myself moving the projector to acquire full coverage on the screen.
Over all it's a Great product Epson !

This is an excellent projector. It comes with easy to understand instructions, takes very little time to hook up with to the computer and it very easy to operate. It puts a bright picture on a screen or wall.
