Very nice August 30, 2008 J. Harrington (Nottingham, NH USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this several months ago with the intent of scanning slides that were up to 25 years old. It is an ongoing project mainly for the winters and will take a few years. I am very happy with the quality of the images and the scan time. The software that came with the unit works fine for my purposes to rid any dust, scratches, lighten, deal with back light, etc. We also use it to scan and e-mail documents for various purposes. It is long so it takes a chunk of the desktop so make sure you have the room.
Scans as good as my SLR digital camera originals August 30, 2008 retired-but-happy 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I scanned some old slides, taken by another photographer, and cleaned them up using Photoshop Elements. They were as easy to clean as the shots I take with my new Nikon digital SLR. I was worried the hues would be off, but no sweat: just routine white-point, black-point tweaks needed. Four stars only because I didn't try Canon's built-in software for editing. Routine copying is fast; construction feels rugged.
Canon 8800F; great scanner August 30, 2008 Naomi Tashiro (Brighton, CO) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is my first Canon product. I had a previous scanner that was so slow and the software for it wasn't very user friendly. I am very pleased with the Canon 8800F scanner. I recently inherited many of my Uncles old photos, negatives and slides. I was worried that the scanner wouldn't work on slides very well. My first time in trying was easy and the slides scanned great! I would recommend and have recommended this scanner to everyone.
Outstanding Product August 30, 2008 Carl Eric Nyborg (Baltimore, MD) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This what I expect from Canon. Plus the Adobe Photoshop S/W is is an added bonus that really completes the package. I am now scanning all my old slides that I had reluctantly dreaded before. Now I am rediscovering some great stuff from my past again and having fun doing it.
Saving old 35mm slides August 30, 2008 Daniel W Sturdivant (San Antonio, TX USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am using this to convert old 35mm slides to digital. I am impressed with the quality of the results. The scanner will handle 4 slides at once, giving a preview of each if you want. Otherwise load the slides and scan. Attached is an example of a slide from 1964. The reproduced picture matches the slide very well. I plan on scanning about 1500 slides from 1951 to the 1980's. I like the results I am getting from this product.
