4 out of 5 stars Great value for the money   February 8, 2008

Overall, I'm very happy with this printer. The photo prints produced are as good as any I buy from the photo stores. The MP610 is easy to setup, and easy to use. However, the software accompanying this printer is, to me, somewhat "user un-friendly", as simple things like changing from color to b&w or changing to envelope printing require me to go to the appropriate program to accomplish. I've found that I sometimes have to hunt through the programs to find the one I need at the time.
The only REAL gripe I have with this printer is that it only accepts two sizes of envelopes. My old (replaced) HP Deskjet 970 handles more sizes, and is still the only printer I have that allows me to print invitation-size envelopes.

I've had the printer for a month now. I haven't tried printing digital pictures yet, but my kids and myself have printed clip art and documents. It is fast and the results were perfect. This is the first all in one (printer/scanner/copier) I have owned. Hoping it lasts as long as the individual components do....
I tried the scanning and copier features - they work great. The built in paper tray underneath the unit is a nice feature - I always hated the paper sticking up out of the back on previous printers. Being able to close up the unit easily may protect it from dust and dog hair.

Purchased for home use to replace an old printer and scanner, this printer has met and exceeded my expectations. Good quality text, graphic and photo printing. The double sided printing is a pretty cool feature. Copy and scan features have delivered good results so far. For the price it is a very good buy.

I recently bought this printer after doing much research through feedbacks, consumer reports, etc. I love it. The photos print terrific as well as text, etc. I love that all the components close or are covered to keep dust out, etc. I have not had any problems with ink, jams, or anything else. Would definately recommend this printer.

1 out of 5 stars Now I own a lemon!   February 2, 2008

My all-in-one worked fine for a month. I didn't use it for a couple of weeks and then the error messages about printhead not installed / wrong print head shut the machine down no matter what I tried. (See the Hawaii reviews). Canon US were willing to replace the print head until I told them I had imported the printer from the US into Canada. They told me to deal with Canon Canada. They wanted $150 to send me a new print head. They don't recognize Canon US warranties they say. So now I own a piece of useless junk and am not inclined to pay the price of a new machine to repair it. Disappointing because this is my fourth Canon printer and the others all worked fine. It's time for me to try a different company. Buyer beware!
