'ware the dreaded U150 error! July 5, 2008 R. Pyles (Maryland) 24 out of 24 found this review helpful
I purchased a Canon MP610 back in January 08. Within the first week a 'U150' error pops up - the printer no longer recognizes one of the ink cartridges that shipped with the printer. I contact Canon, they promptly ship me a replacement cartridge. I replace the defective one and all is good. I figure it was a fluke, which can happen with any product. Come April the main black ink cartridge is empty and needs replacing. I purchase a new one, which works well UNTIL today - I get a 'U150' error, stating that the ink cartridge cannot be recognized by the printer. Though it worked fine yesterday, today this relatively new cartridge, made by Canon, isn't recognized by the Canon printer. If (should I say 'when'?) you get a U150 error, you now have a large paperweight on your desk - it won't scan, copy, print, NOTHING until you replace what is most likely a perfectly good, EXPENSIVE ink cartridge. This printer has seen LIGHT usage, as my wife and I, our needs are few. To have a factory-made ink cartridge that cannot be recognized by the printer is UNACCEPTABLE. Do a google search on Canon and U150 and you'll see this problem is more than just a fluke of MY printer. Except for this SIGNIFICANT problem I've loved this printer. However, this kind of problem is a deal breaker for me - if I can't depend on the printer to at least PRINT, what did I buy it for? Until Canon fixes this problem with their ink cartridges, I would recommend you consider other manufacturers.
Canon Beats HP June 27, 2008 Meredith Minkley 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
After almost a month, I am convinced that Canon makes a better printer than HP. I have owned the P1100 HP photoprinter for some years and it was only ok... The Canon Pixma MP610 has been wonderful so far, with no problems at all. It is fast, easy to install (tech support even helped me make it work with a networked Win98 computer) and has so many features for it's relatively low price.
Just too big| June 27, 2008 Betty (Gaithersburg, MD USA) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I can't speak for the quality of the printer or the output because I returned it before use - thus the average rating. The dimensions in the specifications are the closed size. When you extend the paper tray and lift the cover, its more like 22" deep and 15" tall. If you want both paper trays open at the same time it's even worse. It was just too large for the only space I have for a printer in my office setup. I wasn't ready to buy new furniture just to keep this printer. It's a very handsome machine and has gotton many good reviews. Just make sure you have lots of room.
im a college student June 24, 2008 K. Yang (NY, NY) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My old HP broke and thank goodness for that! The ink was like a million dollars and it would last me about 2-3 weeks. I got the Mp610 back in February and it's June and I STILL have a really good amount of ink. I go to college so i'm constantly printing out a zillion powerpoint slides and papers. Plus, it's really fast. The only downside was the size. When it was shipped to my house, i was shocked at how bulky it was, but honestly, it's worth it, i guess i could say it's sturdy? I totally recommend it :)
Love this printer!! June 23, 2008 Johanna Hamilton (Onley, VA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am so happy with this printer. I had an HP Photosmart printer that I got with a digital camera one year and am glad I decided to purchase this Canon off the daily deal! It's very user friendly, the pictures print fast and are beautiful! You can't go wrong with this printer!!
