I Like it April 6, 2008 Robert A. Monsalve-jones (Santa Fe, NM) Excellent print and picture quality. Easy to set up. Works well with both laptops from the other end of the house without wires.
Huge problems with this printer March 31, 2008 JCW (boston, MA) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Do NOT buy this printer. The software problems, as noted by other reviewers, are prohibitive. I spent two hours on the phone with tech support just to get the thing installed properly. They said "You must have gotten a bad disk" and had me download the drivers from the website. However, a quick review of the tech forums on the web reveal that this was not a bad disk, this was bad software. Anyway, I held my breath once the install was successful hoping for the best, but ran into the next issue this morning when my Adobe Acrobat was not functioning properly. I went back to HP tech support and was told that there was a "known conflict" between the printer software and Acrobat, and that "HP is still working on that." That doesn't help me in my work - and I've now lost nearly two full days of work. And I am self-employed. I am glad I saved the box.
GREAT ALL-IN-ONE! March 30, 2008 AB (So. CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this printer to replace an older all-in-one that didn't work on my network. I am very impressed! I've had HP printers for the past 15yrs and this is my best by far. Setup was a breeze with the online software. I have two MacBooks and one laptop running Vista and one running XP on my wireless network. Once installation was complete all the features of the all-in-one work perfectly! I read some negative reviews but I don't know why anyone would have issues with this machine, It's great value for the money. Plus I got a great sale when I bought. Remember only use the latest online software versions, throw the install CD in the trash. Great product!
Worst printer I ever owned March 30, 2008 DRW (Los Altos, Ca.) We have several computers in the house, all running XP. Installation on half completed. Although ~30 minutes for an installation of a printer is WAY TOO LONG. The other half of my XP computers at home will not find the printer on the network (yes, the firewall was turned off). The computers that did have it (painfully but successfully) installed LOST the printer installation after the printer got a new dynamic IP address from the router. It is just a printer - why do I have to go through such pain to install? FYI - once installed, it does print nicely... but really not worth the pain. Buy something else. I wish I did.
Excellent AIO - So so software - Dificult Wireless setup March 30, 2008 Paul Constantino (San Jose, CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this machine from Amazon to replace an older HP inkjet and Cannon scanner. While I considered other products, including the Cannon AIOs, I decided on the HP for the great combination of features and performance. The other reviewers mentioned the software and I agree with their comments. In place of the HP OCR software I installed Omnipage and it works great! While I havn t faxed with it yet I can t imagine there will be a problem. Photo output is better than the HP7250 photo printer this replaces. The scanner is about 50% faster than the Cannon Lide 80 scanner this replaces. I am a very happy camper! For me the hardest part of the setup was getting the wireless to work. I have a Zyxel 550 draft N router and the printer install kept failing with the output summary saying I had MAC filter turned on, which I did not. After several hours of changing settings on the router including assigning the printer a fixed IP address which I recommend for a printer so the driver do not get confused I decided to try a wired lan setup. This is what finally allowed me to install the printer. When I gained access to the HP printer profile settings, I was able to set the printer IP settings to match my wireless router. After that I removed the cable, turned on the wireless radio in the printer and was greated by a nice clean setup report and strong signal. So if you are having problems with the wireless making connection try this backdoor route with a RJ45 connection and set all the HP wireless settings to match your router. Also, in my router there is an option for Wireless G only or a combination of B & G. I can only get a connection if this was set to the BG mode even though the wireless connection to the printer is G. Go figure!
