Doesn't suit my needs. April 3, 2008 Steven Berg (Fairfield, Iowa United States) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have been using a Brother MFC 4350 (monochrome laser) printer for several years. Although it still prints well, I wished to replace it for three reasons. (1) I occasionally do large print runs, and I wanted more speed. (2) Those large print runs involve envelopes, and I can print only about seven envelopes at a time. (3) The manual duplex sometimes double-feeds sheets on the second run, leaving the pages out of order, so I wanted automatic duplex. I selected the HL-4070CDW because I had read many positive reviews, the paper tray is large, it has automatic duplex, and printing in color has undeniable appeal. Ordinary simplex and duplex printing on standard paper seems to work quite well. And the color, while not photo quality, is good. However: (1) envelopes must be loaded in the "multi-purpose" tray which will hold only three at a time, so I would need to stand there feeding envelopes on my large runs. (2) The paper is severely curled. I am a musician, and I print my own compositions and arrangements. Curled paper will not stand on the music rack of a piano. The MFC 4350 curled the paper slightly, but the curling is severe on the HL-4070CDW and unacceptable for my purposes.
Excellent printer, would buy again April 1, 2008 Brad (California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Have been using this printer for a month now and it's been wonderful. A bit large on the footprint but not too bad. Not too loud (I have it next to me on a big desk and it doesn't interfere with phone conversations). I've printed some big volumes and the inks are holding up well. Also, I haven't noticed the page curling that an early review from last year mentioned. The double sided printing is definitely worth the extra cost and sure saves on paper. One thing to watch, depending on your downloaded file the printer may sometimes print black with black ink and sometimes with a composite of colors (because it was told to by the print file you sent it). This has happened to me on a couple of email attachments. The machine defaults to "auto" for color selection but if you know your doc is in black you can select black and grey scale only. Not the printer's fault, but in a colorless printer world this wouldn't even be noticed.
awesome! March 29, 2008 Tech User 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
excellent printer. Much better than the HP. The printer is small and fast and can handle more paper than its competitors. I had no problems setting it up. Very easy to handle. The wireless feature works great, wakes up quickly from sleep mode and is virtually "switched off" when not in use.
Extremely good March 27, 2008 Edgar Benavides (Doral, FL USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought the Brother HL-4070CDW, tired of paying the high prices for toner for the Hewlett Packard LaserJet 2600N (incredible! the price for a complete set of toner are higher than the printer itself). I'm more than satisfied!. The print quality is extremely good, it's fast.. and it have two useful features for me: Duplex and networking capabilities! More than perfect for a home/small office.
Great Experiences with this printer March 22, 2008 Rae (Indiana, USA) I have had great experiences so far with this product. I purchased for business and loved it so much wanted one for home office. I bit of a struggle to set up on a small Home LAN however it is working terrific!
