Excellent Printer May 6, 2008 M. Rex We bought this printer for a home office and are extremely happy with it. We wanted to upgrade from a black & white laserjet to a color laser printer. After research and reading numerous reviews, we settled on this printer. The price on Amazon was amazing and enabled us to get the duplex, wireless model for the same price as the base model. The curling of the paper mentioned in other reviews is minor and not a problem; neither is the noise level of the fan - the printer is right next to us and we can have phone conversations with no problems. The printer was easy to setup and use, and is fast; the color is fine. The one item we had to change was to establish a static IP address for the printer, since we turn the printer off every night. Otherwise, after startup the next day, a request to print would knock the PCs off the internet.
Excellent Budget Color Laser May 5, 2008 Anon Ymous (San Antonio, Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This printer is pretty simple to set up and get running. I use it for in-house sales materials and some packaging inserts, and it serves this purpose wonderfully. The colors can come out a little muted, so I'd still stick to an inkjet for comping purposes and I still use a commercial printer for high volume branded collateral, but for in house operations, simple presentation handouts and basic color printing, You can easily pay for one of these yourself after a few trips to the local copy place, and it performs exceptionally well for the price. I especially favor the duplex printing, which is why I went with this model over the other Brother offering in this class. I also like the fact that you can network it wire-free, but I must admit that I have mine set up through USB. For the price, I'd say it's a good in-house performer. Can be a little loud, but not a huge biggie unless it's set up in a customer service area where phone conversation is taking place.
Printer Rocks! May 3, 2008 NJ Buyer I purchased the HL-4070cdw from Amazon and it arrived the next day in great condition, It is smaller than equally equipped competitors and it works great with both PC and MACs.
Brother HL-4070 CDW April 28, 2008 Christopher Bullock (Chicago) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was skeptical at first but needed to jettison my HP ink jet for speed & quality. If you have a SOHO or small group, don't even hesitate--this is the way to go. I can fire off a 75 page presentation in full color very quickly & with very high quality. I tried an HP laser & took it back because it could not handle the volume. Even the toner included lasted longer than I expected. The toughest part of installing it was me trying to remember my wireless network password. Very impressive--especially for $500!
Outstanding so far April 22, 2008 D. Star (Milwaukee, WI) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I installed this printer wirelessly for my Dad. No set up problems at all and using 'WPA2 AES' for security over WiFi. Works well with Mac OS X. Since I have a HP 2605DN, I can compare. The Brother is constructed much better whereas the HP seems a bit fragile. The Brother warms up much quicker and, hence, seems to have much better print speed. The LED display is much more informative and can be adjusted for viewing. The set up CD is very user friendly with tutorials for the tech-averse. Highly recommended. If it proves reliable over the long term, I will raise my rating from 4 stars to 5 stars. HP better get its game on or Brother will eat their lunch in the SoHo market.
