Not worth the $$$....or any $$$ for that matter August 31, 2006 Madelene Caselli (Alaska) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I own three Fellowes shredders...all purchased from Amazon. This one is a major disappointment. Every few minutes, regardless of the type of paper used, you will have to stop, turn off the unit, pull out the cheap holding bin and manually clear the cutters. This is an ongoing problem. We take care of our equipment, but even with regular oiling, this unit is more trouble than it is worth. Go for the C-14 Powerhouse or the other version of the C-14 (without all the frills). They are both...money well spent. They do the job required without a lot of aggrevation.
Can't Recommend This On Any Level... August 16, 2006 Madelene Caselli (Alaska) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
It's slim and pretty.......but that's it. If you want a shredder that jams every two minutes, this is the one you want. For some reason the paper does not fall into the cheap plastic bin. It shreds a few sheets, the red light goes on, you unplug it and spend the next 5 minutes clearing the paper away from the cutters. Plug it in, shred a few, unplug, clear.....blah blah blah. If this is how you want to spend your time, get this machine. If you want a good, hard working shredder look at the Powerhouse C-14 or the SB95 series. I have one of each mentioned in this review. Can strongly recommend either of the other two, but this Powershred 120C-2 is NOT RECOMMENDED. The Powerhouse C-14 and less frilly SB95 series are hard working, no nonsense units that won't quit or let you down with proper care. Don't for get the OIL..and don't forget to USE IT. We have several shredders that get regular use. The C-14 and SB95 have proven themselves time after time. And in the case of the Powerhouse C-14.....year after year.
Warranty NO good December 3, 2005 D. Raddatz (Aliso Viejo, CA) 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
Be advised, the warranty is no good. Fellowes will not honor their warranty. I tried twice already. It doesn't matter what story you have. They find some excuse to get out of it. Don't bother paying to ship the heavy thing back, they will just deny your claim and try to charge you to send something that doesn't work back to you.
Very Good Shredder November 15, 2004 R. Anderson (Petoskey, MI USA) 26 out of 26 found this review helpful
We're very happy with our Powershred. We have a medical practice so we do a lot of shredding, and we have gone through 3 other shredders in 3 years. But this is the first shredder we've had that seems well suited to doing lots of shredding in any given day. The smaller home office/ small office shredders can't really take daily usage. The Powershred 120C is a nice a slim design, and allows for more placement options. As for the weight, that really not a factor since you don't have to move it around. Noise is not a big factor either, it's hard to quantify sound, but as I've said I've had four now, and this is not especially noisy. It handles 10 sheets at time time easily Good design, relatively quite, fast, and easy to use and empty. We bought with a rebate so we feel we did very well indeed.
Powerhouse June 9, 2004 33 out of 33 found this review helpful
When it showed up at the door I was a bit surprised. It was a bit bigger than I thought and much heavier. This is one serious piece of equipment. I bought this to replace a smaller strip shredder I had in my home office. Security was the #1 concern...and number of sheets it could handle was #2. This thing is great. A bit overkill for the home office...but I love it. It can shred junk mail without opening it. It handles credit cards with no problems. Just be prepared - it sits about 3 feet tall, but the sideways orientation makes it easily fit between a desk and a filing cabinet or bookcase. It comes with everthing you need to get started - includings bags and oil. My only disappointment is that the inside catch box is plastic corrigated cardboard (maybe because of weight) I just wonder if that will hold up. On the pricey side...but I would say worth the extra money!
