Product Description
Your cell phone is your "lifeline." It keeps you connected at work, on the road, even at home. And now, there's a better way to make and receive calls at home with ultimate comfort and convenience. Panasonic Link-to-Cell uses Bluetooth technology to connect your cell calls to your home handset extensions. No more running for your cell, walking around for good reception, or cradling that little phone on your shoulder. Better yet, you get to tap into your free cell minutes for talk time and you can charge your cell while using the home handsets. Now, that's convenience! How Does It Work? Just link any Bluetooth-enabled cell phone to your Link-to-Cell base unit and you're good to go. It's that easy. Set up takes only seconds, and you can link up to two phones at once. Talking Caller-ID lets you know who's calling and custom ring tones tell you which cell phone is ringing.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for our home   July 19, 2008
After seeing a product like this in Popular Science, we waited for months for this idea to come out in the market. When they finally did, we purchased this product and have had it for about 2 weeks. We are EXTREMELY HAPPY with it and it is working beautifully. We do not have a home phone line and we (2 people) use our cell phones as home phones. This product connects seamlessly. The bluetooth has great range for picking up a Motorola Q from anywhere in the house (even in the garage and downstairs and it picks up a Blackberry Q well too. Each cell phone can have a different ring so we know who's phone is being called. We have it set on a setting that announces the Caller ID. So when a friend calls that is listed in the phone directory, it announces the call (in addition to ringing) on the second ring. ex: "Ring-"TODD CELL"-Ring." If it is not programmed, "Ring-Seven-One-Four..." Only downside is that your phone directory is not transferred to the Panasonic. So if you haven't added people to the Panasonic's directory, the name does not come up and only the phone number. Solution, either memorize phone numbers or add all the names to the directory. Other people mention that when someone is on the phone, you can't use it for another line...solution: use the actual cell phone. Great product, highly recommend.

1 out of 5 stars Great idea for a home phone, but dropped calls ruined it.   July 15, 2008
This phone is a wonderful idea and I have had great success with the Bluetooth. When I purchased a new cordless home phone, it had to meet at least 4 requirements: It had to have Bluetooth, it had to have handset expandability of 3 handsets or more, the handsets could not use 2.4GHz, and it had to be a Panasonic. This phone fit the bill perfectly and it worked almost perfectly except for one flaw, dropped calls.

The dropped calls I was getting were on the landline (which was reliable for 3 years before I got this phone). The drops occurred less often at first and then at least twice a day before it was too much. I use my home phone for some business conference calls and during each conference call, the call would drop at least once and I would have to rejoin the conference call by calling back.

My base unit is in the center of my house and all of the calls were dropped within 15 feet of the base. I called Panasonic to see if it could be resolved. I was told the issue was known and I was given a case number and told I would be called back this week. I will wait for one week from the day I called customer support and if they don't call then I will return the phone to the store to get my money back, just shy of the end of 30 day return policy.

I wanted this to work, but Panasonic has duped it once again for the second generation. I hope they can get this fixed because it is really convenient.

3 out of 5 stars Reasonable price/performance but missing some features   July 14, 2008
This works pretty much as advertised for me. However, one big missing feature is the ability to "conference" the handsets and cell phone when talking over a cell connection. You can do it if you're using the land line (which I don't have one of). Thus, only one person can answer the phone and talk. The other problem (although maybe I haven't read the directions enough) is sharing the phone books between handsets, i.e. I don't think you can. Ideally, the handsets would just pick up the contacts list from my cell phone, keep it in the base station along with any contacts entered from any handset, and let all the handsets use the same contacts. Oh well, reception is very clear and everything else works like you would expect.

1 out of 5 stars Dropped calls oh yeah   July 12, 2008
This phone drops calls every time we use it. Great features, but AWFUL execution . Stay away from this product! Returning it tomorrow but I have no idea what to replace it with. I think all cordless phones might stink.

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy it   July 9, 2008

I read the reviews before I decided to purchase this product. There were several good reviews and a few bad ones. I always wondered if the bad reviews are put out there by people who work for the competition. I can tell you from first-had experience with this phone that it does not live up to expectations. I have had cordless phones for years and I have never had a problem with calls dropping in the midst of a conversation. Well with this phone it happens. Today it has happened twice already. A meesage comes up on the handset saying "No link to base. Reconnect AC adaptor". No idea what that means but the bottom line is I shouldn't need to care about what that means - I shouldn't have dropped calls to begin with. I called Panasonic technical support last week and they were suppose to have someone from their tech support group call me back. Well it's a week later and I am calling them back to ask why I haven't heard from them. I am now going to ask them to replace my investment in this product with a more standard product set. DO NOT buy this - it is not ready for prime time.
