This phone was the only one on the market that filled the two criteria I was looking for...A wall-mounted cordless DECT 6.0 that covered up the wall jack...and matched my black appliances at the same time.
I purchased this on closeout at Target for under $35. When I got home, I discovered the phone was used and rewrapped. The cords were in a hastily packed jumble. The guy who bought it originally still had a greeting recorded. There was no manual. I managed to find one on GE's website (among the ONE HUNDRED EIGHT models they had manuals for) and set up the phone anyway.
The phone looks great on the wall. My appliances have green illumination that doesn't exactly match the phone, but it all works better than anything else would have. The display is large and easy to read.
From a function standpoint, there are far better phones out there. It's plenty loud and is reasonably clear, but voice quality isn't as good as my previous phone. Customization is limited...You're stuck with one ringtone, one which if were found among a variety of ringtones, would probably be called "annoying". Handset range does not appear to be a problem...I had no reception issues from anywhere on the two levels of my home. Handset buttons are NOT backlit.
For me, style was worth more than substance, as I hardly ever use my wireline. To that end, this GE fits the bill. For the more advanced user, look elsewhere.

I purchased this phone because of its profile. I wanted a phone that would go flat against the wall. Most other phones seem to be suited for the counter not the wall. With my old one, I inadvertently knocked it off the wall a number of times.
This phone was easy to set up; it even comes with voice instructions. The luminescent readout was large and easy to see. I was surprised that it also keeps the date as well the time on the screen. I have not used the answering machine so I can't comment on it.
I consider this phone a great value for the price.
