My daughter gave us this phone for Christmas...My husband is hearing impaired, he wears two hearing aids and has a hard time communicating over the phone. This phone is loud enough, especially when we push the speaker button(on the phone, very accessible)...my husband hears well...we purchased 2 more phones for other rooms of the house.

3 out of 5 stars Consumer Report Rated #4   February 4, 2008

I bought this based on CR's review and recommended Quick Pick. Dislike that it sits up high and has no adjustment in that regard. I do like the way the hand set fits in one's hand, and love the speaker phone and ability to turn off the ringer. Also the ring tone is pleasant and volume is adjustable to an appreciable low (unlike Panasonic's which even at their lowest volume, you had to peel me off the ceiling!) I am not sure why calls get dropped, but it's happened too many times for me not to think there may be a problem with the phone.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding design and function for a very reasonable price.   December 16, 2007

I bought this phone after returning another, and was very pleasantly
surprised at the quality and design. If all you want is an easy to use
single-handset cordless without an answering machine, this phone is a
great value.

The handset's Speakerphone works great, as does the headset jack. The
volume levels for ringing, Speakerphone and headset all set independently,
which is a great feature. The keys are made of hard, clear plastic and
are very durable and easy to push, and they all light up when a call
comes in or you are dialing. The display is small, but not difficult to
read. Menus are very intuitive. Hitting one button on the handset fires
up the Speakerphone, press again and it returns to a private conversation.
This feature is very easy to use, and it is LOUD. In fact, the handset
volume is very loud at the highest setting, and my hearing isn't very good
to begin with. Caller ID works great, and phonebook entries are picked up
when the ID matches. The one-button caller ID queue delete is also a nice
feature. Keypad sounds can be turned off as well, and there's no annoying
"blurp" noise when the handset is returned to the cradle.

Range is exceptional; I can walk nearly 3 blocks away and still get a
dial tone without static. Even though it uses the 2.4ghz frequencies, it
also uses spread-spectrum technology so that it won't interfere with
wi-fi devices and privacy is insured. The wall mount sturdiness and
esthetics are exceptional. The handset is large enough to hang on to
easily, but small enough to fit in a pocket if need be. It was nice
to see a WHITE phone for a change; gray, silver or black (or a combo
thereof) looks hideous in my home; this looks nice wall-mounted in the
kitchen. Most of the 10 ring tones are pleasant; the first 3-4 sound
like a standard office phone, the rest resemble cell phone 'muzak'.
(Wouldn't it be nice if someone programmed an old bell-ringer tone in
one of these for us old-folks???)

I'm old and I don't like most of the electronic JUNK sold these days. This
was worth buying. It looks nice and works like a phone should. And the
price was right. I don't care much for AT&T, but this is a very well
designed, basic, no-frills cordless phone for people like me who just
want something that simply WORKS.
