The VTech MI6896 has virtually everything you could want in a home phone system. Four handsets, each with speakerphone and phone to phone intercom. Shared rapid calling directory (each phone sees the same directory). Large backlit keys make middle of the night calling a breeze, even for old eyes. Great audio performance, both speakerphone and conventionally. A remote access digital answering machine in the base. The 5.8GHz spread spectrum system doesn't interfere with anything else in your house. Well designed, well made. And through Amazon, very affordable.

VTech mi6896 5.8 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Four Handsets and Digital Answering SystemThe product arrived as ordered and was in great condition-it was exactly as I ordered, but seemed to be even a better product than I thought. The product works great and is exactly what I needed for the home that I live. I would recommend this product to anyone that is looking for this type of answering machine.

The battery life for this phone is only 45 minutes after being fully charged for 18 hours. I went through the life of all of batteries of all of the phones in 2 hours, after charging all of them for 18 hours as instructed in the manual.
The phone rings you back once after you hang up, almost every time. This is especially annoying late at night when it can awaken the entire household.
Listening to messages is EXTREMELY slow and so is setting up the machine, as everything is voice-guided by a super-slow computerized voice.
I'm returning this phone tomorrow.
