Reasonable toy, but very poor range. July 19, 2005

I purchased a pair of the T5900's for a trip to Europe, thinking we could keep in touch when our family split up for a couple of miles. The product is advertised to have a 5 mile range. We tested it fully charged on our street and lost contact at about 3/4 of a mile, fairly unobstructed and flat terrain. VERY dissappointing, to say the least.
This product is fine if the kids are just going to use it in the yard or around the house, but it is not useful at any significant distance.
