Biggest Bang for your Buck September 30, 2008 Gary Schrader (Portland, OR. USA) This shredder is rated as a "Light Office Duty" machine but it is a strong work horse that won't let you down. Yes, there are cheaper shredders out there (I have owned alot of them), but if they need replacing all the time -- What have you saved? It shreds CDs without even straining the motor. 17 sheets at a time is the max but I fudge that a little without a problem. This machine is built to last, even if you over-do it once in a while. I would not own any other shredder.
A Beast of a Shredder September 25, 2008 voiceoverthewall.com (United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This shredder has the teeth to shred through anything (credit cards, CDs, and 17 sheets of paper). It is very heavy-duty and you can feel its soild construction. This is important for me. It definetly is a office quality shredder. This is a tall shredder. Its a couple of feet high and may not slide under a desk. It is recommended that you oil the shredder after each use. It comes with a starter bottle of oil, but I purchased additional oil here on Amazon. The paper bin is large and you can use regular size garbage bags (30 gallon bags). The box includes several plastic bags from the manufacturer. My only issue with this shredder (and all Fellowes shredders) is the 20 minuted shred time, followed by a 40 minute cool down where you cannot shred anything.
Just keeps chewing!!! September 8, 2008 1963cop (Pittsburgh, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used this shredder for a while and it just keeps chewing whatever I put in it! I had a commercial Royal unit that did a good job but the bearings started to howl and it wasn't worth rebuilding. While this unit isn't cheap...or small...if you want quiet reliability - here it is!
Powershred For Sure August 15, 2008 Andy (Denver, CO) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My third home/small business sherdder in 5 years. Each one has been bigger and more capable than the previous. Heat was the killer of the previous two. When you can only shred 10 sheets at a time, the run-time is longer than if you can do 15 or more. I do recommend "over estimating" your shredding needs when buying to ensure a long shredder life and an efficient shredding experience. The SB-97Cs is powerful and quiet. It has worked great on paper, credit cards and CDs. Safety features are solid. It has been handling 15-20 pages if fed in straight and this is a huge time savings. As noted in other reviews, a fair amount of shred does collect in the base when you remove the basket but this is not hard to clean. This unit is a workhorse and I highly recommend it.
Shreds great, but messy August 3, 2008 Kit Franz (Illinois) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My husband and I own an older Fellowes shredder -- only shreds 3 sheets at a time and it is several years old. We are packing up for a retirement move (if we can ever sell our house) and we have 35+ years of home documents to shred before the move. We started trying to shred using the old shredder -- it took hours to shred 1 year's worth of papers. So, when we saw this one on sale on Amazon for less than $180.00, we jumped on it. The write-up says it shreds up to 17 sheets at a time, and they weren't kidding! I buzzed through a year of documents in less than half an hour. Cons: pretty loud, messy when you empty its wastebasket, safety sensor seems a little too sensitive. BUT......I love how fast we are eliminating our years of documents.
