Composed using a rigid, yet flexible shell made from faux leather and a soft padded microfiber interior, this case snugly cushions the Kindle DX allowing for maximum protection. The non-slip padded interior is composed using microfiber lining which is a soft suede-like material. Molded to snugly cushion the Kindle DX, this sleeve offers protection against the elements; scratches and impact resistance whilst in your messenger bag/briefcase. The Kindle DX can be stowed in either direction which allows for protection whilst charging.

Previous reviewers indicated a problem with an odor.
I found no odor.
The fit is very snug. I am not worried about the Kindle falling out of the cover.
Since there are no clips or fasteners, there is no need to worry about harming the Kindle by improperly using them.
Also you can charge the Kindle with this cover on. Just put the Kindle in upside down.
The only downside is that the Kindle is unprotected when I am using it. Which is why I also purchased the extended warranty and would have done so whatever cover I had. Things happen.
Excellent value.

this case is perfect. It slides into my bag. It helps prop up the kindle on my body when I'm reading in bed. I can hold it with the opening down and shake it, and the kindle does not fall out! It's like half hard-shell--more than cardboard, less than wood. I bought this at the same time as my Kindle. I got them in July one day before I left on a 2,000 mile car trip. I have had no desire to get another case. This is the one you want--just don't leave it in your car. If you did that here, your window would be broken out to steal it and then something else would be broken because the kindle wasn't in it.

Well, it didn't survive an afternoon in my car. The protective sleeve was irrevocably warped, and beyond use or repair. Granted, the Kindle wasn't in the case; maybe I should have thought better than to think that a cover designed to protect a $500 piece of equipment should survive an afternoon in my vehicle, but if I'm going to shell out some dough for a good case, maybe I was hoping to pay for a product that could withstand minor exposure to the elements.
No fault of the manufacturer, but I also wanted a product that's in tune with my habits--protect and forget. It may be the best option for people who don't mind buying a case that needs its intended recipient of protection to survive a single afternoon in warm weather. Perhaps an open-sleeve encasement style (allowing button/screen access) might give Kindle owners an incentive to just leave the sleeve on 24/7, and avoid this little mishap altogether. For everyone else, a "notebook-binding" style encasement is definitely the better choice.

Before making a buying decision, I thoroughly researched the available options for a cover for my Kindle DX. My decision to purchase the OCTO Faux Leather Kindle Sleeve was based on (1) customer reviews, (2) the features of this product, and (3) the fact that the price of the alternatives didn't seem to offer any corresponding benefit. The OCTO sleeve is durable, well-constructed, and the Kindle fits snuggly inside and does not slide around. Consequently, I don't have to worry about it falling out while I'm carrying it around. The sleeve isn't bulky and it has no mechanical parts that could damage the Kindle reader. It has enough rigidity to support the Kindle on my lap but is light enough that it doesn't add significantly to the overall weight of the Kindle. I carry my Kindle in my briefcase and the sleeve serves to protect it nicely. In one customer review I had read that the four-way controller tended to catch on the sleeve as the device was being inserted, and that did raise a concern (although it was the only negative comment that I found about this product). However, in practice I found this was not a problem at all. This continues to be my choice of all the alternatives I have seen to-date.

I like the way it holds the kindle. I think it will offer fine protection. I like reading the kindle WITHOUT a case.
Still, I expected it to be a little nicer.
I'd probably buy it again.
