Worst machine ever made! Design flaw! May 7, 2008

For my small office, I needed a copier. These days, JUST a copier is hard to find as the manufacturers push the new "all-in-one" concept. I didn't a scanner or a fax machine or a printer as I already have those machines. I needed a copier. Not wanting to spend a fortune, I purchased this machine. What a mistake!
Within 60 days, one of the flimsy plastic "hinges" for the copier lid snapped in two. That caused the lid to sit askew when closed, no longer staying in place properly. This rendered the automatic document feeder useless. When lifting the copier lid to place an item on the platen glass, the lid would no longer stay up on its own, requiring it to be held open by hand.
After MUCH ado, Panasonic sent a refurbished machine to replace this brand new one. Within one month, the exact same plastic hinge on the copier lid broke again causing all of the aforementioned problems on the replacement machine. There is an obvious design flaw here.
Because the exchange for a used item in place of one purchased new was SUCH a hassle, it isn't even worth the time to attempt going through that again.
I'll call it a $100 education in what not to buy and will remind myself again in the future why I don't purchase Panasonic products.
