I didn't need the fax but its no bother!!! August 19, 2008 I bought this al in one primarily for the wireless capability and after extensive research into other more simple models....even though I dont need a fax I loved all the features it has and if yo need a fax its all you could nee.
Good Printer, Bad Software August 19, 2008 The printer is great. Easy Setup. Wireless. Auto-document feeder. Good quality prints. My only gripe is the software. The scanner has an auto-crop feature that sporadically crops pages randomly, even when turned off. It also frequently decides the printer is not connected, even though every other application seems to find it. If you plan on scanning in documents, the scanner works great, but you will definitely need another software program.
Returned Printer August 18, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I found a better deal (one day only) on a similar printer and returned this one to Amazon. Amazon credited my credit card with no problem.
Good printer August 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Excellent copies, easy to set up, great features, very pleased with with all functions. The scan to editable document functionality was a pleasant surprise.
The printer worked perfectly for my home office for two months, then abruptly started smearing everything printed in black. The on-line tech support was detailed, consciencious, and in the end without results. This was on a Sunday. They e-mailed me one more thing to try on Monday, which I did; it didn't work so I got back on-line with tech support and they promised me a replacement printer which arrived before 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. I couldn't find my CD to do the set-up, and they sent me one of those immediately. Awesome service, truly.
Wireless scanning far too slow to be useful August 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just bought this printer and installed the drivers (Mac OS 10.5). If I wirelessly scan a single B&W 8.5 X 11 inch page it takes 1 minute and 46 s. The settings are 300 dpi BW. I monitored my network activity during this scan, and it was running at a continuous 250 kbytes/s. This means that it sent about 27 MB for this one page!
After the scan is done, though, the result is a 64 kB pdf file. This implies that the scanner is sending a huge amount of data wirelessly, which takes a *long* time. Then, once the page has arrived, it quickly reduces it to a manageable size. Seems like it would make more sense to send the smaller amount of data in the first place.
Anyway, a 1:46 scan time per page won't work; it would take over an hour to scan the 35 sheet limit of the adf. We're returning this to the store, because we bought it mainly for the wireless scanning ability.
