Good machine September 26, 2008 Jayhawk (Portland Oregon) I have had this machine for at least 4 years and I have had no problems. It has performed without problems. The printing of pictures has not been of the highest quality but I did not buy it for that purpose. It has been a reliable office/home printer, fax, copier, and scanner. My wife often borrows my machine rather than use her own All-In-One of another brand. I have never heard of this carriage jam issue but I did see the same reviews posted here on Amazon posted on another site, word for word, so I am suspicious of these reviews based on my own experience.
No problems at all March 7, 2007 S. Boyd (Lisle, IL) I purchased the hp officejet v40xi printer 5 years ago. It is a refurbished model, but I have never had a problem with it. Copies great, faxes great, and scans photos great. Like one other review, it is a little noisy and shakes while printing, but otherwise no complaints.
V40 Carriage Jam problem March 14, 2005 Bachman (RI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I own three of these. One, bought and used at lot in the UK, has been trouble free; two in the States are about 18 months old and little used - and one of them has experienced the "Ink Cartridge Carriage Jam" problem. It was of interest to read of the other reviewer's search turning up many with the same flaw and HP's lack of support - so I certainly won't waste any time and money trying to get it fixed. I wanted to standardize on this product, but am pleased that it is no longer sold and that I had to buy a different one for my fourth printer. I would certainly advise against buying a new or reconditioned V40.
Worked great for me... March 1, 2005 S. Smith 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I must have the only v40 that has worked flawlessly.. I have owned my V40 for years. Copies fine. Faxes every week/every time. Paper feeds fine. Prints nice photos and text. I don't remember it ever jamming... The only issue I have with it is the cost of replacement ink. But, that's a general HP issue..
Not Reliable! February 3, 2005 Jennifer Rossi (Chicago) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had the same "Carriage Jam" problem just after one year. Unable to fix. A google search found that this is a very common problem with this machine.
