Sharp makes another contribution to the laser copier/printer market with the AL-1451, which cranks out 14 copies per minute using Sharp's single scan system and digital laser technology. Functioning as a printer, the AL-1451 can manage 12 pages per minute at 600 dpi. With reduction/enlargement options ranging from 50 percent to 200 percent, the AL-1451 features an internal document tray to save space, a 30-sheet document feeder, and a 250-paper cassette that can manage both legal-size and letter-size paper. The AL-1451 doesn't have network capabilities, so it's not suited for your connected workgroup. It's backed by a limited three-year warranty, which includes a second day exchange policy.

This is a good copier for a small office/workgroup, probably in the 4-10 person range. Reasonably fast, good quality copies, a good range of presets. It does transparencies, heavy weight stock, and also labels (though feeding one sheet at a time works best for these). It takes a little while to warm up after the autosleep mode, but that's common with small copiers. The feed tray works well for relatively short documents (20 pages or so). The feeder is supposed to take 30 pages, but that's really pushing it.
