2 out of 5 stars Thou shalt not distort the phase angle   October 7, 2008
Jeff (Portland, OR USA)
The unit works, as far as it goes. Test it with an ordinary bulb lamp and it comes on and goes off just like it should. But my intended us was for a florescent fixture, and the florescent bulbs don't come on when they're plugged into the module. Sticking an AC voltmeter into the module outlet when it's "on" shows the right voltage. I asked an electrical engineer friend about this, and he muttered about electronic switches changing the "phase angle" or some such, and told me that the solution was to buy a more expensive unit. So buyer beware - it's Greek to me, but it's real, and the EE type didn't seem surprised by what happened.

1 out of 5 stars Cheap made China product-easy to break!! BEWARE!!!   October 6, 2008
Lizard (Florida)
When I bought this in the store, I was delighted! It worked exactly as described and it make my life a whole lot easier-until after about 2 months it broke. Of course I threw away the receipt so I'm screwed. One month after I bought the first one, I bought another since I thought it was great. Well, that one broke after 1 week of usage. Needless to say I threw away the recipt. TWO of these wireless light switches and they broke. Come on now!

The product is made in CHINA and it stands up to China quality-JUNK!

Don't say I didn't warn you.

1 out of 5 stars Worked 1 time!   September 9, 2008
Cynthia R. Myers (Minnesota)
I plugged this into my TV and it worked as stated. I unplugged it and tried it on another appliance and I couldn't even get the light on the wall receiver to register. Not worth the money! I at least got a refund for the price of the product.

5 out of 5 stars No more climbing over the couch to turn on the light   September 3, 2008
Matthew Orton (San Diego, CA)
The electrician that wired our condo must have been lazy as most of the switches in our place control outlets that are located less than 5 feet away from them. We also have switches that we can't figure out what they control (probably the neighbors garage). Our current living room light is located in the area between our two couches plugged into an outlet which of course does not have a switch associated with it. This product solved that problem. The switch housing is a little bulky but not a big deal at all. There are two install options: adhesive tape and two small screws. I went ahead and used the screws. Install is a breeze. Plug the unit into the outlet, plug the device into the unit and place the switch on the desired location of your wall. I placed the switch about 15 feet from the unit and it works flawlessly. This is a great product and I would highly recommend it if you're in a similar "switchless" situation.

2 out of 5 stars It broke after 63 days -- 3 days out of warranty   September 1, 2008
J. D. Weinrich (California, USA)
This item worked fine for 62 days. On the 63rd day I flipped it off a bit too quickly after I flipped it on -- not that this should matter -- and then it wouldn't turn off after I turned it on again. I disconnected everything; it didn't help. I took out the battery, then reinserted it, then reconnected everything. It turned the light on again -- but then it wouldn't turn off (again). So I found the warranty, and discovered that it expired... 3 days ago!

This is a product that fulfills its warranty period of being guaranteed to last at least 60 days -- and not one week more -- certainly the shortest warranty of any consumer product I have ever bought. Even if it had failed before the end of the warranty, I'd have to pay return shipping AND $6.50 to replace it (that fee is probably double what it costs them to manufacture it). Don't waste your money!
