5 out of 5 stars Garmin Nuvi 660 bluetooth OUTSTANDING   September 30, 2008
Y. Brown (california)
I purchased there cheaper unit at first. It had a hard time connecting and staying connected. I had it for 2 weeks and was disgusted with it. Then I purchased this unit and the Sun came up and all was good. This powerful units latches on to the satalite and stays there. We never leave home without it. It never has failed us on directions so far. And my wife takes it with her every time she travels and I feel lost. LOL If you want the best go with this little charm.

5 out of 5 stars Full Blown GPS   September 30, 2008

The Garmin Nuvi 660 seems to have all the bells and whistles that you need these days. All the advertised features worked although it took two calls to the 'help desk' to make the 660 work as well as I thought it should. One of these calls regarded making the device restore its 'text to voice' feature. Every thing is simple, once you understand how to do it. I would recommend the Nuvi 660 to any user who wishes a full blown GPS.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointed with features   September 30, 2008

I should have read the specifications more carefully before buying. I paid up for the wide screen believing that it would have a qwerty keyboard but it doesn't. I also thought I could download a route from Google Maps to the GPS but I can't. I wanted to use it to run custom routes for motorcycle rides on the backroads. But all it can do is take a destination and show you the fastest way.

Higher-level models might have the features I need but this one is a disappointment. If your needs are limited to finding the easiest way to a destination, it's ok.

4 out of 5 stars Great!   September 29, 2008

Nuvi 660 is a great tool with a lot of great tools included in it. Bluetooth works great and the mapping is good, the roads are not all up to date. Nuvi 660 tells you where all the food, shopping, gas is on your route. And the projected arrival time is great as well. If you travel a lot the nuvi 660 is a great tool for your travels.

5 out of 5 stars One for me, one for Dad...   September 29, 2008
Gregory A. Vlahos (Chicago, Illinois USA)
As an Electronic Engineer (Broadcasting), of course I love the latest toys. My Nextel i58sr has GPS - to an extent - but I wanted something totally cool. I waited 'til I checked out most every brand, model, etc. & talked with friends and co-workers who had GPS's. I finally landed my choice on the Garmin 660 NA (North America). Reasons? The wide screen display, the SD card expansion slot, the mp3 player, the FM transmitter (neither of my cars have audio input) & the idea that I can expand this unit as I see fit; it has the capabilities to do so much more than "as purchased," but I didn't have to pay up front for features I may never need or want. Yes, for the most part (for me) a toy, but I love to take day or weekend road trips and I no longer have to be concerned about where my "no place in particular" excursions go. I always know where I am, what's around me, where I can grab grub, gas, lodging, etc. Plus, I can easily listen to my tunes if I want. I have numerous pix of my work, play, etc. on board, so it's easy to share cool stuff with friends & family.

As far as Dad goes, he has Stage One Alzheimer's. He once drove to Popeye's - which is about 2 miles from his house & got lost and didn't get back to his house for almost seven hours. I programmed ALL places he ever needs to go, he very quickly learned how to set up destinations while still in his driveway -- and SHOOM! Off he goes and "Jill" comes thru his stereo telling him where he is/should turn. The most important place in "Favorites" is "Home." He can now go pretty much anywhere and no one has to worry if he'll be able to find his way home!!!

Of course, other GPS units may suit your needs better. You might not need an mp3 player, JPEG viewer or the FM transmitter abilities. Assess your needs and do your research - so you don't under or overbuy. However, for a slightly above the middle range GPS, you can't go wrong with the Garmin 660. I love this thing!

Gregory
