5 out of 5 stars Outstanding Product   April 12, 2008

I use this software with my Cingular 8125 (touchscreen) and my wife's Samsung Blackjack (non-touchscreen) - it works outstanding on both phones.

The maps on the DVD are extremely detailed and up-to-date - plus, you get annual map updates. The base mobile application gives you a map of North America with Interstates and highways. You can choose detailed areas (usually by state) that you want to save on your phone. The detailed maps have all streets & names and thousands of points of interest (restaurants, shops, arenas, parks, lakes, etc...). It is all saved on the mobile device so you do not have to have a monthly data connection to navigate or find restaurants nearby. I have all of North and South Texas saved on my phone and it only takes up about 60MB storage. I plan to add Florida to my memory card when I go on vacation in a few months.

Pros:
* Very detailed maps stored on the phone
* No need for a data connection (but if you do have a data connection, you can get gas prices, traffic, and hotel rates close to your current GPS location)
* Gives you turn my turn directions (with voice commands) and you can choose birds-eye-view or 3D view of the road
* Can be loaded on multiple phones (but the GPS device can only work on one-at-a-time)
* You can store only your local area on your card and not take up much space - I have music, games, pictures, and other files on the same card with my maps
* The Bluetooth GPS does not interfere with my Bluetooth hands-free device - they both work fine at the same time
* You get a Windows version of the application to use on your computer (it's not that great, maps.google.com is much better)

Cons:
* No satellite photograph maps
* Lakes are not detailed
* Some of the newest streets and restaurants are not present (I'm hoping the annual update will fix this)

Alternatives:
If you already have an unlimited data plan on your phone, you may try using [...] (which is free) along with a cheap Bluetooth GPS reciever

5 out of 5 stars Garmin Mobile 10 ROCKS!   March 26, 2008
K. Krishnan (USA)
The Garmin Mobile 10 package (Item #: 010-00579-00) is an excellent GPS addition for the Cingular 8125 phone with Windows Mobile 5. Now you can have phone, email, internet access, MS Office and a GPS all in one device! The setup is easy out of the box and I was able to navigate within 30 minutes of setup. It provides turn by turn directions with or without voice commands. Since purchasing this nearly a month ago, I have travelled over 2000 miles including a large city without any problems finding my destinations. I also get free traffic updates, fuel prices, weather data and nearby hotel rates.

Be sure to register the product on the Garmin website to get product support and future map updates (was free for me). MapSource software is easy to use and download your routes, waypoints and maps to the phone. I purchased my own 2GB miniSD card which used nearly 1GB of space to download all 50 US states, Canada and Peurto Rico. Most people can get by with downloading 4-5 states in their immediate living area which will consume less space on the card so that you may not need to buy a new card. Also download the updates from Garmin for Garmin Mobile XT for Windows Mobile, Garmin Mobile XT Free Basemap and Garmin Mobile XT Support Files at http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00579-00. I purchased a car mount for the Cingular 8125 which makes it easy to navigate without holding the phone.

Garmin also has excellent phone support (sometimes have to wait 10-15 minutes though) and is my choice for future GPS needs!
