Transom Transducers mount on the transom (back) of the boat in contact with the surface of the water. To prevent damage to the boat or transducer. Transom mount hardware is included with the transducer.

The Humminbird XNT 9 20 T Transom Mount Transducer is a high-speed transducer designed to mount on the transom, or back, of the boat, in contact with the surface of the water, and operate in conjunction with a compatible Humminbird sonar or fish finder system. This unit is a single and DualBeam transducer that features 20- and 60-degree cone angles operating on 200 kHz and 83 kHx frequencies respectively. The XNT 9 20 T includes a built-in temperature sensor, a 20-foot cable, and all the necessary high-speed hardware to get up and running right away. Although this unit has the same hole pattern as some older-version transducers, it utilizes a new design that is more secure and less prone to kick up at the high force of waves, as well as having an improved running angle, and an optional lock-down screw to override the kick up. I bought this transducer to replace the broken one on my Hummingbird Matrix 17 Fishfinder and it works perfectly. I recommend this transducer to anyone who needs one for any of the older Matrix units. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again.

Like others, I found out the hard way that this transducer did not have a temperature feature that worked on my 595C. It was promised as noted below in the selling point feature:
"Includes 20-foot cable, necessary mounting hardware, and built-in temperature sensor"
I need another one and will NOT be buying it here.
