5 out of 5 stars Love at first sight ...   July 14, 2008

This is the little do-all device I have been waiting for. Lightweight at only 2 pounds. This computer boots up in about 20 seconds. (compared to Vista boot time of 2 minutes and 38 seconds!)
Has no hard drive to worry about. Uses SSD memory which draws less power than a coventional hard drive.
It has 3 USB ports for various add-on devices, such as external keyboard, mouse etc.
The wireless connection works very well - easy to setup. Sound is good for such small speakers. The music program works flawlessly with my MP3 players.
Expect about 2.5 to 3.5 hours of runtime per charge.
What's not to love? Our family has 3 of these little computers and they are being used for everything - Photo edits, word processing, spreadsheets, video and music players, network management. While our desktop computers gather dust.

The main reason I bought this computer was that IT IS NOT WINDOWS!!! This is not just because I am a Apple person, just recently Intel gave Microsoft the finger by saying it would not upgrade it's 80,000 company computers to Vista, because windows is old, slow junk.
Five minutes after I opened the box I was up and running, connected to my wireless internet. Same thing at work.
The desk top has big icons and is very clear;internet,work,learn,play,settings,favorites--simple and easy.
A great value for [..]

5 out of 5 stars Perfect little internet PC   July 10, 2008
I did have my doubts before I ordered this thing, what with the whole Linux OS and all. I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of use and amount of info available online to walk you through loading apps, etc. I got my Eee PC to be a web bowser/word processor and it works brilliantly. I expected the keyboard to be cramped, but it feels surprisingly roomy... if I can just get used to the right shift key being so small. Battery life is about two hours, and since I only get one hour for lunch that is plenty. This thing is great.

3 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for   July 6, 2008

I like the small size. However, the poor resolution (800x480) of the screen makes it hard for normal internet usage. One would assume the flash drive would make the PC run very fast, but it seem to run as slow as any other sub-$300 laptop. Finally the battery life should be a LOT longer than a normal laptop since it has no moving parts, but it doesn't last very long. Next time I will just spend a little bit more and buy a laptop without the limitations this one has.

5 out of 5 stars Yep.   July 6, 2008
Basically, what you see is what you get. It is pretty spiffy and small though. I recommend if you want a small internet surfing machine.
