4 out of 5 stars Great buy for the money   February 23, 2008

I recently purchased the asus laptop, and I must say that it is a great little system. The operating system is very intuitive, and my 7-year-old son quickly managed to navigate through it with ease. The only drawbacks, however, are that the screen is small, and as a result, I have had trouble reading some pages in my powerpoint program. In addition, the mouse bar is a bit awkward at times. In the end, though, the product is a great bargain.

starts in 30 seconds, on the net in a minute. as i keep everything in the cloud, the 4gb ssd is plenty. took about a week to get the hang of the somewhat cramped keyboard, but once i got it it's no big deal. fits in the outer pocket of my coat, but now that it's warming up i use the bag. two novels, pens, notebook, smokes, and the eeepc fits perfectly well. shuts down in 10 seconds toss it in the bag and am out of there. haven't bothered with the xp, tried a couple of things with linux that i found on the net and they worked fine. all in all it's light enough to be there when you need it.

Very easy to use and fairly long battery life. Bought it for traveling.
Not much bigger than a small book. Like it very much.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for Student   February 13, 2008

Perfect as a secondary computer for school. Very portable, easy to use, the open office software is very similar to the microsoft products I am used to. Files are compatible with microsoft products. I recommend a SDDR memory card to expand the memory. The card pops right in just like on my digital camera. Battery life is great for a laptop. I get more than two hours of constant use without USB devices. With USB device using up the battery it is more like an hour and a half. There are not any cases for this size laptop but I noticed that many large bible covers would fit if you want a case. This little laptop does everything I need for school for under $400 and under 3lbs. And I don't have to type with my thumbs!!!

4 out of 5 stars The eee pc is a wonderful device with only one flaw   February 13, 2008

The eee pc works great right out of the box. The quick and organized window manager is great. You of course have the option of loading another distro of Linux on the eee pc or install a distro of Linux on a USB flash drive and it will work just fine on the eee pc. The only flaw that the eee pc has is that the wifi does not work well. I've tried the usual methods in Linux to get past that flaw, but even the ndiswrapper does not allow me to connect to my Wireless N router ( in mixed mode and even with no security ). I have not used the eee pc at a hot spot, so there could be routers with which it would be more compatible.
