Good web cam but... September 28, 2008 D. Davis (Tucson, Az.) I've had this web camera for about a month now and I love it for basic web cam and video operations. It takes beautiful stills, and has a beautiful picture in video. The built in microphone works perfectly. However, I don't really care for the motorized face tracking. Though it is a very cool concept, it seems a little too under developed at this point, and will eventually be improved hopefully.
Poor image quality, bad positioning, buggy software September 26, 2008 G. S. Swint (Atlanta, GA) This camera has two big flaws and one minor annoying software flaw. First, it is impossible to position the camera correctly. Ideally, you want a videoconferencing camera to be as close to "front and center" of where you are looking as possible, which means that with a flat panel it should be close to the screen's center. However, this camera only comes with a stand. Therefore, it's only practical to have the camera way off to one side. Result: you never look the other caller "in the eye" but always appear to be looking to the side. Second, the image quality is fairly poor. Even just displaying on the local monitor, the motion lag is significant (i.e., I move and there is a clear lag until the image moves), and the colors are usually very washed out. Finally, this camera has a very annoying software bug: it blocks Thunderbird upgrades. For some reason, it ties up a Windows file used for e-mail programs (that the Quickcam certainly does NOT need all the time) and this blocks the upgrades of Thunderbird. HUGELY annoying.
Logitech QuickCam Orbit September 20, 2008 D. Radil (Las Vegas, NV) We love the video cam. We've used it for calls between us and family in the US and abroad and it's almost like being with them. The ability to manipulate and adjust the view/picture is easy.
Good camera good audio September 7, 2008 Phil R (Indianapolis, IN USA) This is the second camera we bought after a very successful test of the first camera. Both worked very well with Skype and H.323 standard VOIP. I would have liked voice tracking rather than just face tracking but it was acceptable for this level of technology.
We love it! August 31, 2008 Jake's Mom (Baton Rouge, LA, USA) We live overseas and it's very hard on us and our family back home because we only get to visit once a year. I bought this Quick Cam to use with the online web site that we had just joined for video calling via the computer with friends and family. It's a great product. The picture and sound are very clear. It was very easy to set up and begin using. My 8 year old thinks it's great and loves using it. It's nice because it follows you when you move so when we are communicating with someone via the web they don't lose sight of you. I would definitely recommend this product, especially to those in the same situation as we are.
