5 out of 5 stars After some time to adapt to its control, it is a marvellous PDA / UMPC   July 12, 2008

This is never a general purpose notebook and every interested potential owner should know clear his/her own usage with this machine and judge whether this is suitable. For me, it fits my usage in excellent ways, as a portable ebook reader of any common format for English + Asian languages, a video players for all available formats, and for running some simple special purpose applications that only have the Windows version.

A lot of people claimed that they were dis-satisfied with the boot up time and responsiveness of Windows Vista with this machine. I personally find it not an issue. I only reboot the machine once per a few weeks and most of the time I just put it into either sleep / hibernate. Besides, unlike my full-size notebook, I seldom open more than 3 applications in the same time.

This is my first tablet PC and I took more than 1 week to get used to the controls and interfaces. After that I find it pretty convenient to use. In terms of convenience, it should never be directly compared to full-size notebook nor desktop PC. However, with the thumb-pointer + stylus + finger control + virtual keyboard, I could do almost all operations on this machine without using the highly trimmed down keyboard. With the additional 3 Fn + navigational keys, 3 customizable application keys, the dedicated Ctrl+Alt+Del key and the Fujitsu software function menu, control is easy.

The finger-print reader is very accurate and is a perfect device used in a UMPC for which typing is a heavy duty operation. It accuracy is very promising - the error rate is lower than 5% as I experienced.

The extended battery is a must. I swap between standard and extended ones for different usage. Also the hardware Wifi+BT on/off button is a good design as I could immediately turn them off in 1 sec to save battery life.

I would give it a score of 95/100. Very finely made machine with solid built that fit my purpose very well.

5 out of 5 stars The best UMPC on the market   April 26, 2008

A bought this UMPC almost 3 months ago and I have only positive notes to give it. It has performed as advertised and the price for the features it offers cannot be beat. Everything from the crystal clear "Tablet" screen to the long battery life is all thumbs up. And, yes, it is very small but coupled with a bluetooth keyboard it will find many uses in just about any situations it is exposed to. I would recommend for beginners to check [...] for excellent information on the latest UMPC's and what they really have to offer.

Remember, you will not be disappointed if the homework is done before purcase!!!

Totally surprised by this computer. It runs Microsoft Vista no problem, everything works on it.

1 out of 5 stars For writers -- forgettabaudit!   April 10, 2008

I'm a professional writer and I like these little gizmos for working in the field. I went to a dealer to do a test drive. The keyboard was a show-stopper for me. If you don't mind a small keyboard -- and I don't -- the size isn't a problem. It's about the same size as my old HP Palmtop. But the keyboard design sucks. Only 1 shift key, on the left side. And the space key (which also doubles as Tab) is too small. I'm a Biblical typist (seek and ye shall find) so I need that second shift key on the right side. For a small unit, I think the ASUS Eee PCs offer a better solution -- for writers, remember.

1 out of 5 stars info I would like to have had before purchasing   March 13, 2008

This is a great little notebook. I had a lot of problems getting one with an XP OS but finally got one from the factory with xp tablet version and it's a great armchair companion. Having a PDA was very hepful in becoming accustomed to the tablet mode. If I could, I'd change this to a 5-star rating. Wireless works fine.
