3 out of 5 stars Sound is terrible   March 16, 2010
robert (atlanta, ga)
I have 1 major problem and that is the sound quality is horrible, I can barely hear the sound even at 100% volume,so unless you have really good hearing you will need headphones. I had to replace my 2 year old compaq due to it falling on the floor and busting the screen. It had much better sound and cost me half as much.
Also some of the keys are a little small, mainly the delete button.
I also do not like the power cord sticking way out on the right side, it needs to be on the backside.

1 out of 5 stars Piece of $hi*   March 15, 2010

This is a desktop replacement? It's slower than a desktop pc, gets extremely hot when doing simple applications, is way to heavy, is backed by HP's worthless non-honered warrenty, has the cheapest, most faulty wireless card in existance (I say this becasue I have seen 8 of these units and all 8 had wireless card failures within the first year), the video card sucks and cannot run much of anything other than the internet which freezes constantly. If you looking for a project to work on (replace all cheap garbage hardware in the unit), get this unit, if not stick with a desktop.

5 out of 5 stars A very speedy, reliable computer   March 5, 2010

Purchased this computer about a month ago and am satisfied with its performance. Much faster and much more reliable than my other computers.

5 out of 5 stars Great replacement for my Dell   February 16, 2010
KMM (Londonderry, NH)
I bought this laptop as a replacement for a Dell Inspiron that I've had for a couple of years. I'm a software developer and needed a bigger hard drive for all my tools, but didn't want to shell out $800 for a new laptop. I got this one at Office Depot for $599 after the $50 rebate from HP. The 17" screen is a big plus and the clarity is amazing. The keyboard and mouse have a nice tactile feel, quality seems excellent. It comes with Windows 7 which is a nice change from Vista. Windows 7 is a bit faster than Vista, but unfortunately still comes with all the UAC crap, which you can turn off. I'm actually quite surprised that a laptop of this quality is so inexpensive! I've only bought Dells over the last 10 years and only looked at this machine when Dell took too long to fill my order and I cancelled it. I'm very glad that I did. You will be too.
