excellent camera! October 6, 2007 R. Metsker (Indianapolis, IN) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I own a Canon PowerShot S3 in addition to this camera. I bought the PowerShot SD850 camera for its size - it is much more portable. It's size is great to slip in a pocket of jeans. Even though it is much smaller than the S3, I believe it focuses much better and has clearer pictures. I am very impressed with the performance of the PowerShot SD850!
Best Value for Money October 5, 2007 Ravi G. Goriparthi (Edison, NJ USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I really love this camera. It has almost all the features that we expect today as a casual photographer. I tried several night shots in Manhattan and they showed up very clear. This model has an improved LCD display that projects more energy into the picture and so the picture looks very clear. The best part is "Digital Macro" feature that helps shoot the objects from 2CM to 50CM. I shot some flowers in my garden and they came awesome. We tried Casio 10 mega pixel camera on the same subject with close up shot, but the picture quality of Canon is far more superior. For anyone who is looking for a sleek camera which is fully packed with features, this is the best bet.

Great camera October 2, 2007 Sharon Fredericks (belleville, nj United States) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I am not that experienced but for me this camera is the greatest thing I ever bought. It's light weight, takes great shots of people, and is easy to use. It seems a little slow when you try to take a picture and I am trying to figure out how to correct that. I have eight grandchildren and that is what I take pictures of. They are always moving and it's almost impossible to ever get a posed shot. With this camera its just point and shoot and the picture always comes out great. Also the 4X zoom is really a wonderful feature. Allows me to take pictures of my nine year old my grandson out on the football field while he is moving and I get great shots of him.
Two Words: Utter Rubbish! October 2, 2007 Global Roamer (London, ENGLAND) 16 out of 27 found this review helpful
I had a PowerShot SD900. Pros: Small size, packed with features, great image quality, intuitive controls Cons: a bit slow on zoom, a bit slow at focusing (sometimes), noisy at higher ISOs in lower light conditions. Overall: 8.75 out of 10 I was in the US and picked up at SD850. I was told "newer model, fewer megapixels but better lens, image stablization added, better camera". I fell for it. Two words: UTTER RUBBISH. Pros: same size as 900 (compact). Okay value. Cons: the camera is HOPELESS in lower light situations, images have 'strange' blue or green haze in them, the metering is completely tripped up by more extreme light situations and anything shot from dusk onward. Compared to the 900? A QUANTUM LEAP BACKWARDS. This is my lemon purchase of the year -- expect it to be fobbed off to an unsuspecting 3 year old neice or nephew or 'lost' at the bottom of a local pond!) I had held CANON in high regards -- the company lost it with the 850. Buy this one at your own peril! Overal rating: 4.5 out of 10
