Why can't they design a case with the adaptor in mind? June 6, 2001 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
The case is ok for the G1, but ONLY if you do not use the adaptor. The case lid does not fit over the adaptor, so you have to attach/detach the adaptor constantly. I use the adaptor all the time for filters and additional lens. That's one of the great things about this camera. But, it's a problem with the case (or should I say the case is the problem).Another thing - I have to remove the case from the camera if I want to pop-out the compact flash card. I like to use an external card reader to load my pictures on the PC, and I have to unscrew the case from the camera to do this. When I tried loading the pictures directly from the camera to the PC using the included cable, I had to slightly remove (unscrew) the case to be able to open the plastic cover on the side to be able to attach the cable. The case butts up too close to the plastic cover for my fingers to be able to open it. The G1 is a fantastic camera, but disappointed with the case.
Good case for G1 February 2, 2001 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
As mentioned elsewhere, this case is designed for the Powershot G1. I don't imagine it much use on other cameras. And I've seen it advertised a number of places as a "bag." It is not, it is a case. The two-piece case is quite nice, and in particular the "bottom" half which screws into the tripod mount is very useful. I don't use the other half at all since I have the LA-DC58 lens adapter mounted almost all the time. The "top" half (or outer portion) of the case won't fit over the adapter (very unfortunate!). I use my G1 for alot of outdoor photography and the bottom half of the case is very useful because it is securely attached and includes a pretty good, solid neck strap, which is much more useful to me than the wrist strap supplied with the camera. In general, I definitely recommend this case for G1 owners, but don't expect a "bag" with storage capacity and don't expect the outer portion to fit over the 58mm adapter.
For the Canon PowerShot G1 - Nice case! January 6, 2001 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
This case is designed for use with the Canon PowerShot G1. It's similiar to standard SLR leather cases in which the case is made of up two parts:- The bottom half which screws into the G1's tripod mount and "wraps" the camera body. You leave this on at all times, except for when you need to change the battery, swap CompactFlash cards, etc. - The top half which snaps into the bottom half. You remove the top half to take attach other lenses, an external flash, and of course take pictures. There are plenty of buttons on the back of the G1 body, however the bottom half of the case (the part that you leave on while shooting) does not obstruct them. My only complaint about the PSC-1000 case is that the top portion is not large enough to accomidate the LA-DC58 Lens Adapter for the G1, a popular accessory.
