5 out of 5 stars Good Old Fashioned Fast Lens - For the $ a must have   September 1, 2008
This lens is a must have. The 1.8 is awesome. I almost forgot how enjoyable these types of lenses were to use. It's almost like using my old 35mm film camera with a normal lens. The lens is great for portraits, close ups, and low light no flash photography. I have a D60, so the autofocus does not work with this lens. However, the green light in-focus indicator in the viewfinder works quite well and I actually kind of enjoy having total control over the focus. This lens produces sharp and vibrabant images. The build quality is excellent and for the money, this lens should be in your bag.

5 out of 5 stars Great lens for the price.   August 31, 2008
It's a good lens for starter portrait photographers. Keep in mind that it's a 50mm... may take some getting used to.

5 out of 5 stars Fab lens   August 31, 2008
I can't say enough about this lens. It's fab. I almost never take it off my camera. If you're on the fence about this lens now is the time to get off it quickly and buy it.

I did lots of research on this lens and everyone said it was a fantastic lens and I am not disappointed at all.

5 out of 5 stars I Love this little guy!   August 30, 2008
You wont find a lens from Nikon that gives you more bang for your buck. If your new to prime lenses this a perfect first one to buy. It produces very sharp images and with an f/1.8 it comes in handy for low light situations. Of course build quality isnt professional grade, but if you decide you like using fixed focal length lenses you can always upgrade later (50mm f/1.4).

Its been a joy using this lens. No regrets of this purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Nikon 50mm 1.8D AF   August 29, 2008
I received this lens a few days ago. I have read many reviews about it's speed and how fast this lens is. I have to go with the flow on this one. Since I haven't gone Digital, I tried this lens on my Nikon N80 film camera. It is extremely fast and sharp. The first shot I took was from my house looking down to the road. I set the aperature to 2.0 and got a shutter speed of over 1/5000 sec. This is as high as this camera can read using Iso 400 film, or any other. I reset to 5.0 and the car coming down the road at 50mph was frozen with great detail. Haven't tested indoor low light yet, but I am sure I won't be dissapointed. This is an integrated lens to use with Nikon film or digital SLR cameras. I almost feel guilty paying a hundred bucks for it. If you don't have it BUY IT!
