3 out of 5 stars SOUND ISSUES!! Buyer Beware   February 10, 2008

I purchased this TV after doing a lot of research. I thought the sound issue would have been worked out by now. However, within 5 days of getting this TV and hooking it up, the sound started cutting out. I contacted Samsung and they stated they would be emailing the patch. Two days went by and no e-mail. I called again and still nothing. Finally, I decided to send the TV back as I was still within the 30 day return period. Amazon was great about it. I skipped out on Samsung and got a Toshiba Regza instead as a replacement. This was a great decision. The Regza has all of the same features without the problems. Samsung makes a great TV but they have some issues to work out. Hopefully this year's line of TV's will not be problematic.

2 out of 5 stars Great picture quality, but not worth the headaches   February 10, 2008
C. Polanski (NY)
I had this TV set up in my bedroom for about two weeks when I began to get the dreaded audio dropout issue. Until that point my fingers were crossed as everything else about the TV was great. Picture quality, the many features, and even the speakers were great. It is absolutely breathtaking with HD content. As soon as the audio cut out a few times, it was back to the store and not with another Samsung given their horrible record of customer service. It was still within my return period, so I didn't want to hesitate given the similar problems faced by so many others.

If you have the patience to deal with Samsung or other places for repairs, then I would say keep it. I personally think that it is ridiculous to need to have a 14 day old, $1000 TV repaired. Too bad, because everything else about the set is great. Maybe I'm being to picky, but when I spend that much money on a television I believe it should be flawless.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing speakers, even better screen   February 9, 2008
K. Reilly (Ann Arbor, MI, USA)
I won't give you a real technical in depth talk, there are other much smarter people than me for that. I bought this TV because it was the best rated 32" on CNET, I couldn't be happier with the choice. The screen looks beautiful, it has plenty of inputs, and the speakers are amazing! My roommate is a sound engineer by degree, he agrees that the sound out of this TV is top notch, and you can't even see them! no seriously, I've looked all over the sides and bottom and back and I can't find them. There's some holes on the bottom, I think they might be there, and then the sound is reflected forward by that clear plastic strip along the bottom, but I'm really not sure. We have Comcast HD, a wii, a PS3, PS2, and a laptop all plugged in at once. My only complaint is that you can't have PIP with two digital sources at the same time, and if you do have an analog PIP with digital, the sound will only come from the digital source. I actually don't think this is possible yet with any TV, as I don't think the processing power is there to decode two digital signals at once (I'm not positive on this though).

Anyway, if you're looking for near-top-of-the-line technology for a reasonable price in this size, this is the one to get. In this size, there really is no reason to get a 1080p (the Aquos is the only 1080p in this size). I'm in the Air Force and have perfect vision, and from more than about 5 feet back I can't tell the difference.

Also, the glowing blue light at the bottom is really cool...

4 out of 5 stars High pitched noise -   February 9, 2008
Michael Lehnertz (Saunderstown, RI United States)
I received this TV with the notorious high-pitched noise. It appeared within about 4-6 hours of use. I got on Samsung's web site to report the problem and an appointment to come to my house was scheduled within 6 hours. The technician knew exactly what the problem was and replaced the defective component.

Great TV. Good colors. Good sound. Looks great on the wall. I've been purchasing Samsung computer monitors for years so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed, and I wasn't.
