Quality product March 19, 2010 Efrain A. Delvalle Purchased this product to match with my new Samsung 55" LED 1080p tv set. Delivered to my front door as Amazon promised. Quality of picture is excellent. No complaints.
Thank you Amazon!
Awesome bluray March 17, 2010 DSmith (NE, USA) The blu-ray player is awesome. The image is clear, it's easy to use, the wirelless option is really cool. I'd definetely recommend this product
Great DVD Player March 15, 2010 Vito Totino (New Jersey, USA) This DVD player is a great investment. The internet connection (wireless antenna sold separately)is a great feature! You can stream Netflix, Pandora, Blockbuster, and YouTube. The viewing quality is great, overall the best bang for you buck out there today I'd say. A+
Blu-ray March 13, 2010 E. Hill (Twin Cities, MN) Great value for a Blu-ray DVD player. In particular we were interested in the streaming feature - great value to have that as well. Great service and super fast shipping.
I will avoid Samsung products after this lousy player March 13, 2010 Cliff (Seattle, WA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased my BD-P1600 about 6 months ago.
The things I like:
1) It still works
2) Netflix downloads come out great...usually (sometimes have to power cycle to get them to play all the way through)
3) Youtube is ok but some videos are blocked due to content(?)
Here is what I *hate* about it:
1) Remote control responsiveness is terrible. I'm not a remote control elitist here but I expect to be able to pause and back up reasonably quickly. The remote control is extremely directional, if I don't carefully point it exactly at the unit the signal won't get through. Even when I do point it correctly I find that I have to make extra effort to hold the buttons down befor the player responds to the command.
2) Noisy drive motors. I'm an engineer, I expect my motors and drive system to be quiet. Noisy mechanical things tell me that something is going to fail sooner rather than later.
3) I just rented the DVD version of Ong Bak 2 from Netflix. This DVD will not play at all in my Samsung...really! A DVD? Won't play?! At all!?!?! This is completely unacceptable. Samsung hasn't released a firmware update in months so no help there. I dragged out my trusty old Pioneer 5-disc dvd player and guess what? The movie played fine so I know it's not the disc itself.
If I pay about $200 for anything I expect it to just work and keep working. I have heard that some Blu-Ray discs are twitchy so I'll allow a small amount of latitude but DVD?! It's not like this is new never-before-seen technology here, I expect the player to load it and get on with playing it!
