Product Description The DMP-BD10A features an audio upgrade package that brings high end surround audio to the viewing experience via the inclusion of 7.1 channel surround, Dolby True HD and dts-HD High Resolution Audio decoding technology. The DMP-BD10A also incorporates Panasonic's proprietary EZ-Sync system for integrated one-touch operation of Panasonic home-theater components. In addition to playing pre-recorded Blu-ray movie discs, the DMP-BD10A plays conventional standard-definition DVDs and conventional CDs. Other key features of the DMP-BD10A include proprietary P4HD technology for performing IP conversion at the pixel level for ultra-fine details, a 297MHz 14bit Video D/A Converter with 4X oversampling, video noise shaping that improves signal-to-noise ratios by shifting noise to an unused band, and theoretical support for nearly 4400 billion colors. The DMP-BD10A also incorporates Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital and dts decoding, and BD-J (Java application) interactive capability.

Perfect July 29, 2008 Terry N. Monday Sr. (Tville, NC) Own mine now for about a year. No problems and picture is awesome! Viewing on a 1080p Panasonic set. I did update the firmware a few months ago and it helped with loading some BD's. Note that some BD disc will be better quality than others. Not the players fault, just the way they compressed the videos.
Fantastic Blu-Ray Player May 21, 2008 Ivan P. Wiest (Robertsdale, AL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Panasonic DMP-BD10A is a high quality Blu-Ray player. Start up times (once the power button is hit to time disk tray will come out)are as fast as my upconvert DVD player...Much faster than the Sony BDP-S300 I use to own. Also the play times (time from when disk is put into player and see disk contents on the TV) are also just as fast as my upconvert DVD player. Picture quality is out of this world! Cannot comment on audio since I'm still using the speakers on my LCD. I wish I would have bought this player instead of my Sony Blu-ray to begin with. Panasonic certainly put a lot of thought and quality into this machine. My only gripe is the remote could have been better laid out, but really no big deal. Some have complained about the flip-down front panel, but I personally like it b/c it hides all the unsightly buttons one typically sees on Blu-ray players. The panel gives this player a handsome appearance. I highly recommend this Panasonic Blu-ray player!!
Best Blu-Ray DVD Player March 9, 2008 Derek Hutton (MB Canada) After researching the sony and sharp, the Panasonic start from load is less than 30 seconds, haven't required an update as of yet, Everything works wonderfully. Also own the first generation Toshibs HD DVD player, but now unfortunately, even though the insane load time, HD DVD looks like it has bitten the dust. Asked Toshiba what they plan to do for existing purchasers, with no surpirse, no response to my email. Picture quality equals if not excells the best HD DVD Player to my astonishment. 5 Star player. No reason to consider anything else.
Panasonic DMP-BD10AK 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player March 9, 2008 Monty (Florida) The picture quality is great. I'm not sure if it is designed that way but it makes a clunking sound when ejecting the disc.
Great player! February 23, 2008 jon (Alabama, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have a Toshiba HD-DVD player, but with the demise of HD-DVD, I decided to get a Blu-ray player. I bought this specific model because is has 5.1 or 7.1 analog out, and decodes everything internally, up to, but not including DTS-HD MA. No other player I've found will do all of this. This player is out of production, replaced by the DMP-BD30, but the BD30 doesn't have 5.1/7.1 out, so I would have had to get a different receiver. My receiver had an unused 5.1 analog in, so this player is perfect for my needs. I missed the closeout sales of these players by a few days, so I'd been looking around for sometime, and found one from an Amazon seller. Came with everything except the 5 free DVDs, unfortunately. When I got it, it had version 1 firmware, so the first thing I did after I made sure it worked ok out of the box was update it to the latest version, 2.4. This added some audio decoding features, to include DTS-HD (not MA though). I've noted that it boots much faster than my Toshiba HD-DVD player, which is nice. However, since Blu-ray is an evolving standard which hadn't matured when the 10a was produced, unlike HD-DVD, the 10a doesn't have an internet connection for direct firmware upgrades, and other internet features. I can live without that since it is easily upgraded by CD. Picture quality is great, and it plays all of the Blu-ray and standard DVDs I've thrown at it. But since neither it nor the Toshiba player will do Divx or region free, I've still got my trusty Oppo player in the mix. My plasma is a 720p native version, so the lack of 1080p/24fps in the 10a doesn't bother me. The 10a does support 1080p (normal) however. All in all, I'm very happy.
