Amazon.com Product Description The Numark PT01 portable turntable is an ideal unit for DJs on the go. Measuring a mere 12 by 12 inches, the turntable comes with a full array of features yet stores conveniently inside the average record crate for simple and efficient transport. The size, however, is just window dressing compared to the unit's DJ functions. The PT01's belt-driven motor operates at speeds of 33-1/3, 45, and 78 rpm, giving users access to everything from modern LPs to classic singles to old-school jazz and blues discs. DJs will also appreciate the +/- 10 percent pitch control, along with the tone and volume controls. And monitoring is simple thanks to the built-in phono preamp, accompanying speaker, and dual 1/4- and 1/8-inch headphone jacks. Other features include a durable auto-start and -stop tonearm, a high-quality felt slipmat for scratching, an integrated carrying handle, and a removable dustcover with a locking slide latch. Connectivity is enhanced by the RCA line-level outputs for hooking up to a DJ mixer, tape recorder, CD burner, PA system, or home stereo. The level of the stereo output signal is controlled by the turntable's audio level control. Perhaps the most convenient feature for mobile DJs, however, is the power source, which offers the choice between a traditional AC power adapter or six D-size batteries (not included). Thanks to the battery-powered option, DJs can take their act anywhere and not be beholden to nearby outlets. The PT01 turntable comes with a built-in cartridge with a removable stylus, along with a 45 rpm adapter. And as with all Numark turntables, it carries a two-year warranty. What's in the Box PT01 turntable, 45 rpm adapter, dustcover, slipmat, power cord, user's manual.

Love the Numark PT01 Portable DJ Turntable August 7, 2008 This turntable works great! You really need to plug into speakers as the built-in speaker is very quiet. We hooked it up to some M-Audio Studiophle AV 40 powered speakers and it sounds fantastic (you can also plug your ipod into these speakers). I have been listening to my old records like crazy. Warning, it will make you want to buy new vinyl too! It is plastic, lightweight, and easy to use, but maybe not as heavy and solid as some folks would want. It is great for trying out vinyl in the store, very portable with batteries, but certainly heavier. I do not know yet how long 6 batteries last. It's fun.
Portable DJ turntable: Great tool for Digging at a good price August 4, 2008 After looking for a Portable turntable for my record "digging" excursions, found this piece of equipment which seems to be pretty small, but actually it has a lot of power. It has everything a record digger DJ needs: battery powered, fits in a Dj record bag, it has "ins" for headphone jacks and "outs" for mixer or amp, and it has a build in speaker. What i'm a bit worry about is about getting the spare stylus. I looked around Venezuelan Market and have not find it yet and probably I won't; so it might not be that easy to get the spare. In general, it's a good portable turntable (I even played house music on it in a small party with some friends) for a reasonable price. Just make sure you buy few spare stylus, just in case...
Awesomness July 7, 2008 I like to hear the old style music of Rod Stewart. Now I can listen to it. The sound is clear. the set up is easy. The Rod Stewart rocks....
Can't beat it for the price June 16, 2008 A portable turntable that runs on batteries, is lightweight, has two headphone jacks and a pitch control, AND plays 78's...this baby rocks!
Now, I had the same issue that many had with the face plate coming unglued and rubbing on the records while playing. But, I simply put some super glue in there and haven't had a single problem since.
I originally bought one of the Crosley portable turntables and it quit working in the first two weeks, so I returned it and got the Numark. I've been happy ever since.
A final word--this isn't audiophile quality. But, for under 100 bucks, you're not going to get that from any turntable.
Very Disappointed June 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Mine came today and I was very excited because I have a fair number of 78s and this is one of the few reasonably priced turntables that will play them (or is so advertised...)
Unfortunately, it is junk. The top is coming off just like noted in some of the other reviews, and either the belt is loose or the motor is shot because it not only does not play at a consistent speed, but even if it did it would not be at the right speeds...with the pitch compensation at a full 10% positive, it barely reaches the stated rpms. I tried both 33s and 78s, and the AC adapter.
Now I am going to have to go to the hassle of returning it to Amazon and waiting for a (more expensive) replacement. I sure doubt it will be a Numark!
