no S-video for the VCR June 8, 2010 Shane Dalgarno Beware this unit does NOT have S-video output for the VCR. It does have S-video output for the DVD player, but not the VCR. The only option is RCA output. Just printed my return label.
GATP Project December 14, 2009 Dr. K (Orlando FL) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am currently on a major government contract that requires a DVD/VCR player that the soldiers can use for projecting training material. This product has been very easy to operate for both the government and contract installers. The quality of the video has been very good. We have and will continue to purchase a great deal more of this product.
Don't buy this! October 27, 2009 L. PISTILLI (Philadelphia, PA United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This worked fine under light use for 5 months, then started eating tapes. Full warranty is for 90 days, so I figured I'd have to send to service center and pay something for Toshiba to repair or replace. Could not find the service center going through the Toshiba site, so I called Toshiba customer service between 9 and 5 as directed and got the runaround for over an hour ... could access how to get my tape out, but never how to get Toshiba to honor the partial warranty for months 4-12. Finally threw the thing away. I will not buy Toshiba again.
Amazing DVD player, not so good VCR September 20, 2009 P. Galligan (CA USA) 20 out of 21 found this review helpful
I bought this recently at a Best Buy and was terribley dissapointed when I found out that there was no s-video for the vcr and the only way to have the vcr and dvd player share the same output was to use composite, and so after setting up this unit to two different inputs (one for composite and the other for component) I tried watching a movie on dvd and found that this unit responds almost instantly to commands from the remote and the unit only makes sounds when it's reading the disc. For the vcr, it plays fine, but since I only need it to play vhs tapes, I haven't tried recording anything, so I wouldn't know about that.
It's a great dvd player, but so-so as a dvd-vcr combo.
Doesn't deserve a Star... June 27, 2009 Richard D. King (Florida) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I purchased this yesterday at Best Buy. It (thankfully) was the last unit they had in stock. It won't load the tape properly. The tape loads crooked, with the left side sticking up in the machine. Needless to say, it won't play the tape in that position. I'm returning it this evening. I can't seem to find a "decent" VCR for dubbing my tapes to DVD anymore. I just want to dub from the VCR to the computer. :(
