Midland AVPH5 Headsets July 13, 2008 The headsets work good but the "push to talk" buttons on the wire do not work well. When used they make the transmission sound scratchy and garbled. The headset wire that wrap around the head are a little big even for my large head. Maybe the problem is that I am comparing them to the higher quality "and priced" ones that we use in the fire dept by that other manufacturer that starts with "M". We use them to talk from our labors to machine operators in our landscape business. Radios sure beat hollering back and forth. All in all they get the job done if you use the transmit button on the radio and they are a hundred times better than the little ones that hang off your ears that came with the radios.
Not bad May 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought these to use on a motorcycle and you can't hear when the speed gets above a crawl. They work great for anything else though. Only wish the headset was adjustable.
Quality February 13, 2008 I bought these along w/ a pair of Midline GXT850s. We use them in paintball. they work great. They are very clear and easy to use. My only suggestion would be an adjustable band on the back rather than the unadjustable wire version. Otherwise, great deal.
Great stuff February 11, 2008 This headset is great. The only problem I have is if someone on the same channel keys in too strong it can hurt your ear.
These headphones work great September 20, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Midland AVPH5 headsets work great! I just bought a pair and they work 100% better than the crappy ones that come with the Midland 2-way complete radio sets. Don't waste the $$$ on these sets!!! All you get are the 2 radios, then a car and wall charger for the reusable battery packs (which DO NOT work- mine last maybe 30 min. to an hour and they're shot, one wont even hold a charge and it was brand new- Just buy Duracell AA batteries at Cosco or something and use them- they last a Long Time!) The cheap headsets that are included in the pack do not work- mine are fuzzy and scratchy and do not work 95% of the time.
I suggest- Just buy the 2-way radios you want, they're great! Then buy seperate batteries at the store and buy the AVPH5 headsets seperately along with the radios- they work great! Don't waste the $$$ on the "complete set" or "value pack", the battery packs and headsets included in it are Worthless. Our new headsets (AVPH5) along with Duracell AA's make our 2 way radios great! Midland has great radios, all you have to do is buy the more expensive, quality headsets to go with them, such as the AVPH5.
