This is a no frills, yet solid 2-way radio system. There is the expected five mile range with the GMRS channels. Don't forget you'll need a FCC license to work with this sort of operating range. These radios run on four AAA batteries. Rechargeable batteries are not included, but you can certainly use them if you have your own recharging system. Operating time for alkaline batteries is an impressive sixteen to eighteen hours. Other features include an emergency channel, hands free capability, and full electronic controls.
