Product Description
Ready for HD done the Sony way? Sony's KDL-40V4100 brings 1080p picture quality home with amazing, Sony-exclusive features like the XMB (Xross Media Bar) with 3D graphics, DMeX capability so you can add functionality to your TV, and picture quality technologies like ACE (Advanced Contrast Enhancer) and BRAVIA Engine 2. Full HD 1080p means the XBR(R) connections accept 1080p signals and the Display will render that signal in Full HD 1080p. Take full advantage of Blu-ray Disc players and PlayStation(R) 3 systems that can deliver 1080p content. The latest version of Sony's respected BRAVIA Engine fully Digital video processor uses a collection of unique SONY algorithms to significantly reduce noise and produce sharp, vibrant, life-like images. Sony's Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) uses real-time image processing to dynamically adjust backlight levels for improved Contrast without masking details the filmmaker intended you to see. ACE delivers deep blacks in darker scenes, as well as fine details in shadows and other dark areas of the picture for a difference you can truly see. Add to that a sophisticated, piano black design, 24p capability so you can get the most out of the movies you watch on Blu-ray and DVD, 4 HDMI inputs along with three other HD-capable connections, and what you have is a television that can bring dreams to life. 5 out of 5 stars quality doesn't come cheap   September 29, 2008

After shopping around more than 3 month, I was in debate of samsung ln40a550 or kdl v4100. I went with sony 'coz of reliability and 24p movie option. It sits next to my ps3. I had vizio before (i still do), wow what a quality difference while playing game or watching tv, movies. TV is rich in feature. Picture is very good and sound is not bad either.

Had this TV for 2 month now. It's perfect. I tried samsung, sharp, vizio, zenith, westinghouse, and this sony tv is the best of them all. It's got the best dark level and i saw some dark details even my 23" samsung and 32" 1080p sharp doesn't show.

extremely happy with this TV. Make sure you do your TV settings in picture "custom" (there are standard, vivid, custom, and cinema). i first use "standard" and it auto dim during dark scene which will loose dark detail. Custom does not auto dim backlight.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome Value with Great Picture and Sound   July 31, 2008

I researched for months before purchasing the Sony KDL-40V4100 and am glad I decided on this set. Other sets I looked at were the Samsung LN-40A550 and Panasonic TC-37LZ800.

Picture: 4 of 5
Overall the picture has very good black levels (without compromising shadow detail), clear whites, and vibrant colors. The only major flaws are "flashlighting" near the corners of the screen and an annoying backlight dimming (even with the Advanced Contrast Enhancer disabled). However, these are only really noticeable during completely black scenes and have not bothered me during regular viewing.

Sound: 5 of 5
The sound is loud and clear considering the small size of the speakers and the S-Force Front Surround actually works well. This set is much better than my previous Samsung LCD which had weak sound and created an annoying echo at times.

Inputs: 5 of 5
This set has 4 HDMI (version 1.3) inputs, allowing you to connect several high definition sources. The side inputs are also useful for connecting digital or video cameras. The only downside is the lack of a USB port offered on other comparable sets.

Miscellaneous: 5 of 5
The gloss black finish and clear space between the screen and speakers give the set a slim and open look. The menu is easy to navigate and looks nice. I also like the 24p TrueCinema which provided a smoother picture with movie content. However, if you find this feature unnatural you can always disable it.

5 out of 5 stars Great Sony Picture quality at affordable price   July 17, 2008

I bought this TV on May 28th from CC. So far I am completely satisfied with the TV. It has the legendry Sony Picture quality Tag and it truly delivers upto its name. Lots of reviewers talk about the Sound Quality but I foud that it is way better than other Samsung and LG/Sharp. The S Surround sound is exceptional. Though it should not be compared to any HT system quality.

4 HDMI connection rocks and if you have Bravia Sync components you dont even need an extra remote. I have hooked up my Sony DVD player, Onkoyo HT system and Cable receiver via HDMI. This TV has more than enough HD inputs which comes very handy if you wanna hoke up all the appliances together. One more feature is the TV and Text mode when I hook up my Sony Vaio. It delivers a crisp quality picture. The new V Series looks better than its predecessors and you cant get a better TV with a price tag of 1350.

Bought the sony about 3 weeks ago.....Got it almost perfect where I can watch all channels on full screen....You really must play with it......I plan on buying the upconverting DvD player to match TV....I watch alot of reg TV...So the speakers are very important to me....This unit is 1st class..........Trying to adjust the reg stations with a cable box can be a pain.....But!!!! It can be done......To watch full screen......I also found that watching DVDs (Widescreen) can be a pain.....I found out that Sony upconverting Player can solve this...79.99.....
