Excellent printer, but a little hard to get configured. September 3, 2008 Ethan Zlomke (Madison, WI USA) Partly that's my fault-I _assumed_ a network printer would work over the network with any OS instead of doing a bit more research. On XP the printer requires some pass through software (included) that worked easily enough. Ubuntu found the printer easily and a few tries with CUPS and it was going great. On Mac OS, I had to force CUPS printing and jimmey around with settings for a little while. It works to assign it as an IP printer and specify every setting instead of letting the OS try to guess! Other than that little hassle, the print quality is good and fairly quick. If you don't use it often, it (like any laser printer) takes a good three-four minutes to heat up the roller. I tended to leave mine off and batch my print jobs for several days so I wasn't paying to keep a printer ready all the time. This is a bulky, office-duty level printer. There are some laser printers for home use that are more aesthetic and smaller. Only get this if you need to print a lot of pages and want a relatively good price/page.
Good Customer Service June 28, 2007 Vijay Patel (Atlanta, GA) Received the product as promised. Setup of Samsung ML 2251N printer was tedious with Windows XP. Setup was quick with Windows Vista Premium. Other than the Setup Printer works great.
Damaged printer and no customer service January 21, 2007 L. Abbott 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
On the 26th of Dec. I opened the shipping package and discovered the back of the printer bashed in and the toner cartridge and the toner cartridge packaging broken allowing toner to go everywhere. I immediately emailed for a RMA and a refund. On Dec 28 I got an email stating I would get a full refund in 10 business days. Its now 15 business day and nothing has happened. The purchase was from one of Amazon's independent sellers so apparently amazon really isn't interested in providing customer service. I found the customer service link on one of Amazon's pages. I sent a message to Amazon, but could not REPLY to Amazon's non-responsive response as it is set up as a one way message rather than for a two way communication 1/20/2007.
Very good printer for the price January 17, 2007 M. Haley 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been using this printer for about three months now, and am very pleased with it. Having the printer on the network, rather than shared from a single computer, is very convenient. I am using the printer with a network of two Windows XP computers, and one Linux (Ubuntu) printer. Set up with the Linux system took a bit more time and research, but on the Samsung web site there is a Linux driver available for download. The printer has a nice browser based utility for adjusting settings, including setting up a fixed IP address, but I had to find this on my own; I found no mention of it in the manual. Print quality has been excellent. I use the toner saver mode for most of my printing, and save the higher quality mode for only the most important documents. The driver has the ability to save various printing profiles, so once you have settings for paper size, resolution, graphics modes and the rest that you like, you can save it for later use. This might be common with other printers, but not with the ones (old) that I have been using. Just for a test, I did attempt to print a black and white photo on glossy paper. Although the detail was acceptable, the printer introduced bands of light and dark into the print. Since I knew this was not a photo printer when I bought it (and that is not what I bought it for) I don't consider this a problem. If I had any complaint, it would be the noise level when the printer is waiting to print, but hasn't gone into the sleep mode. Since this lasts only ten minutes, it isn't a huge problem. I also have a separate room for the computer. If your computer is in your living room, you might want to consider making good use of the networking capability to move the printer to another room, away from people who might be bothered by the noise when you are printing. At the time I purchased this unit, it was under $220 from Amazon, and even with free super saver shipping still arrived in three days. This was my first order from Amazon, and am quite pleased with the service.

Works as advertised. Network connection went flawlessly. Print quality is great. Runs with my Apple systems and Windows systems. A great deal considering the price.
