Product Description Several companies make speakers for use with the Apple iPod. JVC RV-NB20 proceeds to the next level. Boasting a total of 52 Watts of sonic power, JVC RV-NB20 Kaboom offers two 6.5" subwoofers (20 Watts per channel each) and two 3.25" full-range speakers (6 watts per channel each) for lusciously big, pulsating sound. It also adds a CD Player (plays CD - CDR - CDRW - MP3 CD) and a digitally-tuned AM/FM radio tuner. There's still more! It has a built-in dock to fit most dockable iPods for simple play yhrough the sound system. Don't own an iPod? Plug your digital media player (MP3 or MP4) into the miniplug input and listen through the Kaboom. In addition, the Kaboom also has an input for a guitar so you can use it as an instrument amplifier. All points considered, this is way beyond a mere iPod speaker system. It takes compact entertainment systems up to a whole new plateau. You deserve the best portable sound around. Get Kaboom! This Dog Will Hunt May 29, 2008 I work on a freight dock. It's really loud with all the trucks, forklifts, fans, etc. but not as loud as my JVC RVNB20B. The sound and bass is amazing. It's the best sounding boombox that I've ever heard and my co-workers agree. It's hard to believe what JVC has done with a mere 52 watts of power. I highly suggest this item for anyone who likes to crank it up and enjoy rich sound and deep bass that's comparable to much more bulky and expensive home stereos systems.
Great Sound! May 22, 2008 This is a great boom box! The controls are user friendly, and I can play it loud enough to hear some distance away without damaging the speakers. If there's a disadvantage, it's the weight and carrying strap.
Oh Say Can U C, JVC!~ April 22, 2008 Fast shipping and prompt service from Amazon. Thanks! JVC Boombox has excellent sound...similar to much more expensive units. Kinda unwieldy, but formidable in features and sound. I owned a JVC Boombox years ago and loved it, so I'm a return customer and not disappointed!
Nice box... April 6, 2008 This box is pretty much what I hoped it would be... a modern replacement for my failing Hitachi 3D7 box from 1984. It's great to have a remote finally!
The Good: - MP3 disks play very well. - iPod integration works well, even with remote. - Sound is loud and clear.
The Bad: - MP3 player whines a few times per song, when reading data. Annoying at low volumes. - iPod hanging off the boom box with a cord is a poor solution. - The unit is not really a cylinder like it appears to be in photos. The shape bulges out very far in the rear, in a way that no true boom box should. I smashed my hip trying to carry this thing with the carry strap-- good luck with that!!! Strap looks cool but is a joke to actually use.
The Ugly: - I'll go ahead and say it: This thing is big and ugly. Very tacky looking. That said, I'm getting used to it now that I've had it a couple weeks...
Good sound January 30, 2008 Best sounding Boom Box I ever heard. For my needs I leave it plugged in. But if you go portable it eats batteries.
