A decent turntable with a few problems October 3, 2006 M Felix (In order : 91790, 92392. 92277, 92284, 98422, Now 98023) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
the Stanton STR8-30 Direct Drive Turntable is a great record player but needs improvement. I decided to buy this truntable because it wasa direct drive system. I used to own the Sony PSLX250H (See my review) truntable which is a belt drive system. The belt always came loose and would cause the record that was playing to sound higher pitched. This Stanton turntable has a few problems compard to my previously owned Sony. The Stanton STR8-30 Direct Drive Turntable has a buzzing sound that only goes away when a vinyl is played. If you have vinyls that are recorded at a lower volume than others (I have a promo lp of "Black Reign" By Queen Latifah and it is recorded at a lower than normal volume), the buzzing will overpower the music. Playing any vinyl will require you to turn your stereo up to it's maximum volume. If you try to play a vinyl at the same volume on your stereo as a cd, You won't be able to hear it. Besides the buzizng sound and having to turn your stereo up to it's maximum volume, the Stanton STR8-30 Direct Drive Turntable is worth owning.
good sounds March 2, 2005 space_antelope (Baltimore Maryland) 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
this thing works well. course i'm not into the scratching game, so i can't speak on that. but it spins stuff and makes pretty dust noises when i listen to dusty records.
Great for beginning! January 16, 2005 Coleman Hamilton (Charlotte, North Carolina) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I got two of these turntables right now at home. They are what you expect for the price. The price is irresistible. If you expect high torque, good cartridges, don't bother buying. The Staton 30's have enough torque for the beginners but not for the pros. I give the Stanton 30b's a 2.5/5 on torque, they could've made it alot better. If you need more torque look at the Stanton 80's or Numark TTX's for the pros. This is great for starting and you will enjoy them for along time just like I have. I wouldn't suggest another turntable for the beginners. If you get them you will enjoy them!

Well you got it !!! worth buying ! almost as good/performent to a Technics turntable of the same category ! you find better @ that price ! go for it !! Dj T from Paris !
