Product Description Cassette Deck for Home Stereo component systems
Amazon.com Product Description Whether you're looking for a new way to enjoy your classic audiocassettes or a reliable, high-quality recording component, the Teac R-H500 cassette deck fills the bill admirably. The device hails from Teac's Reference line, a collection of components designed with thinner profiles than traditional stereo components. This particular unit measures 11.5 inches across (most are in the 17-inch range), making it a perfect option for listeners with narrow entertainment cabinets or shelves. In addition, the R-H500 is equipped with a host of valuable features beyond its convenient size, such as full-logic transport control, auto-reverse recording and playback, a digital tape counter, and auto tape selection. The device also boasts CD-synchro dubbing when connected to a CD player, ensuring that listeners won't miss a moment of their favorite music, along with Computomatic Program Search (CPS), which senses a break in the recorded sound while scanning for a desired track. And playback sounds consistently clear thanks to the Dolby B/C noise reduction system with HX Pro. Technical specs include a 40 Hz to 14 kHz frequency response and a signal-to-noise ratio of 75 dB (with Dolby C NR) or 65 dB (Dolby B NR). The device, which measures 11.5 by 4 by 12.12 inches (W x H x D), also carries a three-year warranty on parts and labor. What's in the Box R-H500 cassette deck, user's manual.

Teac R-H500 Nifty little deck November 12, 2006 Barnard Dental Laboratory (Tacoma) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Just what I was looking for. Seems these are hard to buy. Works good! I would like to find the CD deck to go along with it. Can't say how it will hold up as I really don't use it that much, but I do like the smaller size but nice features.
one of the old titans August 28, 2006 Jose E. PITA (MIAMI, FL USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
in this age of cassette-bashing and 6 kinds of different cd formats battling each other, it is incredible to encounter such kind of simple machines still around.I am 50.
Compact Jewel of a cassette deck October 17, 2005 Stereo Geek (Glencoe, Illinois USA) 24 out of 24 found this review helpful
I bought this unit because I was in the process of transferring many old, irreplaceable cassettes to CD, and my 20-year old Aiwa just died. I had previous experience with Teac on my very first deck purchased in the late 60's, and this new unit does not disappoint - flawless/silent full logic transport, crystalline sound (or the closest thing to it considering the age of these cassettes, and compact size. My only complaint is that there is insufficient contrast on the button labels, so that I have to squint to see them. Note: I only use (and reviewed) this unit for playback, since there is no need to record new cassettes when I have a CD recorder hooked up to my home stereo.
