Product Description Small enough to hang on a wall, but powerful enough to bring down the house, the new Boston Horizon MCS packages take all the complexity out of multi-channel audio without sacrificing any of its impact. So let Hollywood pile on the excitement. It's all in a day's work for Horizon MCS.

Great speakers that bring your entertainment system to life... November 10, 2008 J. Campbell (Philly, PA) I bought this system to enhance a new 46" Sony flat screen tv and Sony Home Theater Receiver. I have not been disappointed. This Boston Acoustic system has incredible bass, clear sound from all 5 speakers and just overall brings my living room to life no matter if I am watching sports on tv, movies on my dvd player or music from my home theater receiver. I highly recommend this set of speakers!
The real MCS 130 November 4, 2008 G. Hatten (cali) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I orginally ordered the MCS130 through Amazon. They were going to ship from Tigerdirect. This "was" the best price I could find. Well amazon said they ordered the mcs130 and tigerdirect sent me a email that they were shipping the MCS100 which is a lesser model (bait and switch yikes) I have talked to reps from amazon and tigerdirect. They said refuse shipment and I will be "refunded" my money They charged me for $60 shipping anyways!!! They sent the wrong item!!! Come on... this ISN'T my fault! The amazon and tigerdirect reps blamed each others company. The tigerdirect rep was a rude guy anyway. Amazon said if I order something through them, that "shipping" will be free. Do I want to order anything through them ever again? Don't fall for the bait adds, you might get burned like I did! If Amazon reads this "I WANT MY SHIPPING BACK!!!!!!!" Make things right and send back my shipping!!! I did finally get the right "speakers" Anyways I give this review 3 stars. 5 stars for the speakers and 1 star for service. The speakers rock, I bought a Onkyo tx-sr705 to power them. True HD through a blu-ray sounds beyond amazing! I am happy with the speakers. A very nice upgrade from my HTIB 6 year old system. A stereo with crossovers is a must. The volume on the subwoofer is very handy for turning up when you want to feel the hard hits of bass from music. I have the speakers in a 8x10 room and it is perfect.
Great Buy!! September 14, 2008 Vince Biasiotta (South of Heaven, Cleveland) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I Installed the Boston MCS-130 system two weeks ago after purchase from audioextreme at amazon.com . The 200watt downfiring subwoofer gives the sense the bass is coming from all around,as it should, shakes my entire entertainment room. speakers provide a very diverse and clear range of sound without distortion. I have been trying different music and BD movies to challenge the system and it has performed amazingly well. The sub woofer is not ugly at all, the LCR speakers and surrounds are well designed and fit my decor. I like the rubberized feal, gives the sense of solid construction and very easy to grip when mounting. recessed connectors are more difficult than most but we are not talking science here, just takes an extra minute or two per speaker, Big deal. Also, a set of high quality speaker cables and subwoofer connect cable come with the system, no need to buy new. heavy gauge with marked sheathing, subwoofer is gold plated connector. In conclusion, for 500 dollars I now have a professional sounding speaker system that has dropped the jaws of every one who has heard it. Very clean with impressive bass. you can even change the color of the grilles to match decor if you need. My PS3 and BD and HDTV are finall sounding the way they were meant, I have the MCS130 connected to a Sony STR DG-520 reciever for a truely kickin 5.1 speaker system for a very reasonable sum of money. this is a fantastic system for 5 or 6 hundred. You will not in any way be sorry. If you have limited space and don't want to spend alot, this system will be everything you want it to be
Really Good (Not Great) Sound. But They're So Ugly!!! July 20, 2008 wildcatgoal (Chicago, IL) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I compared these speakers in my apartment to the Harman Kardon HKTS-18's. These won in the sound quality area, but lost bad in the looks area. My gosh are these speakers, especially the subwoofer, ugly! I think they have the multi-color grill options just to take your eye away from the fact that they are coated in some sort of rubber material, have cheap in-box table-top mounting, and, again, to hide the fact that the subwoofer looks like a Borg spaceship. The front speakers have a surprisingly full sound and they actually put out strong, punchy midrange and smooth highs. The rear surrounds are basically the same speaker as the front speakers, minus one woofer. They are well-suited for surround speakers and they are equally as smooth sounding, just not as loud (which is good in my mind). The subwoofer's sound quality is pretty good and matches well with the overall package, but I think that because the subwoofer's vent faces downward towards the floor like the driver, you end up losing a bit of oomph, especially if you have carpet. The Harman Kardon set-up's subwoofer was far better and its vent pointed backwards instead of down. If these speakers weren't so bloody ugly and cheap looking, I think I'd keep them. Though I'm sure there is some benefit, they are all coated in this rubber material that looks like black primer paint on a muscle car. Matte paint is good, but not when it's rubber. Because they clash bad with my glossy TV, they're probably going to be sent back. I think I'm going to give Cambridge Soundworks or Mirage a try and hope that they match or beat the sound quality of this set-up. If you don't care about looks, get these over the HK's, even if you pay more.
Excellent sound - Grade A February 29, 2008 LudVanB (St Louis, MO) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a great system of speakers. Well-built, good looking, durable, good connections, but MOST importantly - great sound. The subwoofer is a MONSTER of good bass! I am extremely pleased with this surround sound system, better than any I have ever had. The only reason I am giving this product 4 stars, rather than 5 is that the overall depth of sound is not quite as sharp as I expected. The rear channels are too average for a 5 star rating. The center and front speakers are really good. This is an outstanding, overall diverse and powerful set of speakers for anything from watching James Bond to a Pavarotti concert. Highly recommended.
