Can't go wrong with this. June 22, 2008 Scott Jorgensen (Buffalo Grove, IL United States) Yamaha audio should be enough said. These speakers sound great! I don't think you will find any portable usb powered speakers with this sound quality and sleek design anywhere for a long time. I'm amazed at the audio frequency range of these speakers considering the size. With the volume all the way up, the distortion is surprisingly low. If the green power indicator light turns off,(at or near full volume) it's probably because the PowerStorage capacitors have run out of capacity, or the speakers aren't geting enough power through the usb output. If this is the case, turn the volume down a little bit. You don't need to have the volume that loud anyway if you are sitting close to it. The only complaints I have is: when you turn the volume down, you have to slide the pot up instead of down. Also, AA batteries would be better then AAA.
Very nice June 13, 2008 Carlton L. Gibbs Speakers are all they say they are. Runs though batteries fast. Little trouble plugging in the adaptor, but other than that a great product! Carlton in Dallas.
This Rocks! May 6, 2008 D. Denniston (Upstate, NY) I searched high and low for the perfect speaker set. I use them in a classroom to instruct but wanted something small enough to fit in the backpack to transport with my computer and projector. So far I have used this with my Zune and computer and all I can say is that it is loud, small and the sound is good for me. I can't get full sound from the computer using the USB without distortion but you can then plug it in and use the headphone jack for excellent loud sound. The computer sound is great with just the USB if you don't have to crank it for a big room. Awesome product!
Jury is still out December 29, 2007 G. Jackson (Westchester, NY) Bought for my son who asked for a beach radio which would interface with his Ipod. He doesn't need a radio so this I thought would be ideal. We tested indoor and found nice sound. We found some flucuations in sound at high vol. Nice and compact 1 cable, w/pouch he can carry at least 2 sets of batts. and one cable. Better than a boom box. I am Tivoli-Pal fan but this was $100 cheaper w/comparable sound but no AM/FM, however Tivoli does not have a backup power option on the beach. More to come...
One Unit, One Wire, 'One' Sound October 21, 2007 R. Erickson (Los Angeles, CA USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I heard about this unit from a Home Theater newsletter of all places. The reviewer just had to share this item with those of us concerned about the quality of sound. While it does not produce the sound that can be had from a good pair of separate PC speakers, it also does not take up the space nor the wiring menagerie either. That said, the sound is actually quite nice when you are in its 'zone' of listening. The bass is really surprisingly rich considering that the center bass diaphragm is only 5"x1" in size. I can carry it easily with my PowerBook and only need to plug in a single USB cable to power it and feed it stereo sound. In iTunes I set the Equalizer tool to use the "Loudness" setting to get what I consider the best sound from it (some really low bass will distort so I drop the lowest equalizer slide switch about 4dB). By the way, it also amplifies cell phones, portable DVD players and the like via the supplied power cable and 1/8th inch jack.
