Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Grundig S350 DL Deluxe offers exceptional value and superior reception of AM, FM and international shortwave. An analog receiver with digital display of frequency and clock, it offers the best of both worlds to the radio enthusiast. Utilizing today's most modern single-conversion superheterodyne circuit design, it's powered by four D cells for exceptionally long play-time and comes with an AC adapter. It receives continuous shortwave from 2.9 - 27.4 MHz, covering all 13 international shortwave broadcast bands of 11, 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 31, 41, 49, 60, 75 and 90 meters. You will get news and events from all over the world and superior reception of your favorite domestic AM and FM stations, including those often hard to pull-in AM talk shows. It's ideal for the AM DX'ing enthusiast too. There is a built-in, defeatable, 90 minute sleep timer that automatically turns the radio off after 90 minutes so if you fall asleep the radio will not play all night long and run down the battery. You can now set the clock while the radio is playing. A wide and narrow switch on the front panel allows you to narrow the radio's bandwidth to reduce adjacent channel interference. A new SW/AM frequency lock circuit improves stability to reduce drift.
There is a built-in telescopic antenna for FM and shortwave plus a built in ferrite bar antenna for AM. The back panel features a 75 ohm KOK antenna jack for FM and spring loaded terminals for 500 ohm AM/SW wire antenna and ground. There is also a 6 VDC input jack for the supplied AC adapter. The right side of the S350 even has left and right line level outputs and a stereo/mono switch. Plus there is a stereo earphone jack for private listening. With comfortable carry handle. The 4.25 inch speaker provides big sound. Comfortable carry handle 4.25 inch speaker provides big sound Requires four D cells or 4 AA cells (not included) Includes AC adapter, Owner's Manual and Grundig Be

4 out of 5 stars Better than expected   September 15, 2008

This radio is better than I expected when I bought it for $100.00. It has long battery life and allows you to choose AA or D size batteries with the ease of a selector switch. The radio has a 90 minute timer which is useful, but if you want it to stay on indefinitely, the power button needs to be held down for 3 seconds. The only downfall is that the radio tuning control does have a tendency to move, which forces the listener to keep adjusting the radio every so often.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect Shortwave Starter Radio   August 29, 2008

I will make this short and sweet. I never owned a shortwave radio and wanted my wife to be able to listen to German radio broadcasts. The radio achieved this right out of the box. I will not be able to rate how this radio stacks up against the competition, but it has done exactly what I purchased it for. All I ask it that Amazon should send the pictured product. The picture indicated the newer S350, but received the older model, but I am still quite satisfied with my purchase. Oh, the local broadcasts in both AM & FM are much easier to pick up and clearer than any other radio in the house. For $99 go ahead and buy it!

4 out of 5 stars as advertised   June 25, 2008

does everything as advertised, only thing i didn't read upon was: it shuts off automatically after 90 minutes, which can be annoying. Very
plain looking radio, but a solid performer.

3 out of 5 stars Decent but with exceptions   June 5, 2008

I purchased this radio to replace a Panasonic RF1100 that I have had since it was new sometime in the 1970's. The 350DL has a lot of useful features and the primary ones for me include the sleep timer, alarm colck and the published claim of good sensitivity. The overall sound quality of this radio is pleasing. The sensitivity compared to cheap radios selling for a lot less is good although not as sensitive as my GE Super Radios models 2 and 3. As I have more sophisticated equipemnt for listening to shortwave, this was not one of my primary objectives for buying this radio although the inclusion of shortwave is a nice plus.

The controls are nicely laid out, the instruction manual quite easy to understand to enable you to derive the full enjoyment of all this radio has to offer.

The big drawback and dissapointment I found with the 350DL is the tuning control. There is a lot of " slop " in the control, not just the knob but from what is behingd the control panel. Another problem with the tuning control is an overabundant " backlash " when trying to set the tuning on a station, particularly when tuning in shortwave stations. You tune in the station or desired frequency, let go of the tuning knob and you can actually see it change as it moves forward or backward from where you left it. For those desiring to tune around the shortwave bands to see what is there this is a big drawback. I actually wonder how long the tuning control will last on this radio before it falls apart. The entire tuning knob assembly wiggles and wobbles while you turn it. This should not happen, and I feel is a major cause for concern. For the $100 price tag I am not expecting a mil-spec radio by any means but the poorly designed tuning system in this radio gives me no other choice than to down rate it. That is unfortunate too as this radio has many other features so worthwhile.

If you are planning on purchasing this radio to use for AM & FM broadcast reception and not change stations too frequently, it's a decent radio. If you plan on tuning to different stations frequently you may wish to consider looking at other makes and models befoe buying this.

I purchsed this radio primarily to use as a bedside clock radio with sleep timer and only occasional tuning. The digital display is not absolutely accurate but for the price it is good enough.

Glad to see they're producing the new S350DL models with the option to get the Grundig name on them.
Our RCA Superadio III is by far the best reception and sound radio in our armamentarium, until...
The GS350DL Sound, AM, FM, and Sortwave reception are a source of pure pleasure. After a lot of research and some confusion with all the presentations of this radio, finally buying it proved to be an excellent decision.
There are a lot of nice features that deserve a few minutes with the manual. It's well written and concise. Some reviews with complaints are giveaways the the owner just didn't take the few minutes to check out the instructions. While everything is fairly intuitive, it does help to see what the manufacturer has to say. So spend a few well worth minutes and read it!
The only time I got sexual feelings for an inanimate object was with my 1965 Mustang. This radio is trying to do it to me again...
