I bought the Zen MX to replace my original Zen. (Mom decided my coat needed to be put through the dryer with my Zen and cell phone in the pocket.) There are a few differences. My old Zen was an mtp device so I had to use Amarok (I'm a Linux user) to upload music. That was cool because Amarok automatically converted music to a format the Zen could use, and I have most of my library in flac format. However, the Zen MX just mounts like a normal usb drive. You can drag and drop your music. This is extremely easy, but there are two issues. The first is that I have to manually convert my files first. The second is that it doesn't seem to properly read .mp3 tag info because the tracks are either not in the right order or not even put into a folder. So I'm stuck using (ugh) .wma for everything. (It can also play .aac but I haven't tried that format) Now the plus side of this is use you can use the thing as if it were a 16 gb usb drive (which is almost the same price). You can put whatever files you want onto it just to move them from place to place. I don't use it to watch videos so I won't say anything about that.
Overall, I'm happy with the Zen MX, but I think I would rather have my old Zen back.

This is my third creative mp3 player. They are great mp3 players I just so happen to be very careless with them. I got this product so quickly which was great seen as I lost my other one. I could not have been happier with this purchase!

So glad I bought this item , so easy to load , and so easy to use , bigger than most mp3 players , but I like the size. Sounds better than previous player , good picture quality , have not tried the video yet . Really like the option of adding memory card to unit . BEWARE...be sure to completely charge battery before trying to use .....

As an mp3 player, the MX is okay except it keeps the screen on using up battery life.
In addition, after two months white lines started appearing on the screen. Support is weak on site and the firmware upgrade does not recognize my mz. We will see how Creative responds to my e-mail.

Creative Zen produces great products.....or at least they seem great until they break. These products have a poor shelf life and even poorer customer service past the first two months. Support is a toll number which sucks. Fixing a unit that is out of warranty is = the cost of buying a new one, perhaps more expensive than finding a deal on one.
Never again.
