I had my Zune 80 for about 3 weeks before it suddenly bricked on me. It froze, told me I had to restore my firmware, and then refused to be recognized by my computer. After an hour on the phone with tech support, they said the device was dead and I could send it in to receive a new one.
I didn't want to wait, so I took it back to the retailer and exchanged it for an iPod since no Zunes were in stock.
I like everything about the Zune better than the iPod except the software. The Zune software is absolutely terrible compared to iTunes.
I'm sure not all devices were defective like mine, it was just frustrating for it to happen so soon. But for now, it looks like I'm an iPod guy.

I use it mostly for podcasts, latest firmware update needed for best results.
The headphone update is a wee bit weak, need efficient headphones to overcome background noise.
A stylish looking unit, excellant display.

I purchased this as a gift for my wife. The player, itself, seems very well built. It is solid, compact, functional, has good sound, has a nice FM radio, and the screen is easily viewable. The software, however, is a royal pain! First, it took me an entire evening to download (yes download) the software from Microsoft. It took several attempts at downloading because part of the process involves the set-up wizard checking for updates and my computer couldn't connect to Microsoft. Finally, after downloading, the software was installed on my computer but it wouldn't sync with the Zune. I had to disconnect and reconnect the Zune several times before the software would pick it up. The computer knew the Zune connected. The Zune, itself, said it was connected. But, the software didn't recognize that the Zune was connected! The Zune eventually synced with the software but you can not use the player before you successfully sync. I don't know why Microsoft insists on using separate Zune software instead of letting you use the Windows media player like most other MP3 players can use. It is, after all, a Microsoft product. My wife loves the payer so far and I have to admit that I am jealous and now want one myself. My only complaint is the software. Microsoft really needs to improve the software and it would also be nice if they included it within the package for the Zune especially considering how much you are paying to purchase the thing. I'm giving this a 3 because of the frustrating software which is required before you can even use the Zune.

Firmware need to be improved. No sleep, no equalizer, no volume level. It is important delete items derectly from the player

I found that the Zune 80gb is perfect for me. It has a radio, yeah. I also am able to wirelessly sync it to my home network(totally cool). I purchased some accessories at a reasonable price here on Amazon and I dont have any complaints! I havent even used half of my memory yet and its filled with music photos and podcast. I recently purchased an HP digital camera so now Between my Palm 755p smartphone, My Zune, voice recorder and my camera and WD 160GB portable drive. I am a multi-media mogule ready for anything!
I like the look of the Zune and the share feature is cool although I havent used it yet. Then picture and sound are great! No complaints from me! I love it and plan on buying them for my entire family over christmas.
