Suprisingly loud and clear. Ergonomics disappointing July 4, 2008 I was amazed the first time i turned this little pocket dynamo on! The sound was incredibly loud for such a small device. Absolutely no jarring at full volume. Full marks on performance, as well as finish and ruggedness
Now for the ergonomics part - 1.The on/off switch can be accessed only when the speaker is unzipped 2.The batteries drain when you forget to turn off the speaker (just turning the ipod off isnt enough). You can easily forget this, and its a pain to unzip anyway 3. There is no DC in option - batteries are the only way to run this speaker 4.Removing and reinserting the ipod for charging is quite a task.
Sad thing is that 1 and 2 are such simple yet glaring oversights. Hope this will be fixed in the next version. Then its a fiver all the way baby!
it all depends how you plan to use it July 2, 2008 If you plan to use this for several hours a day, it may not be the best choice. The biggest drawback (or only really) is the battery situation. There are so many great things about this thing, but the big deal is...you can't plug it into a wall, and your ipod runs out of battery too. Even if the maingo batteries (i even like that it's like a mango, hehe) last 20 or 30 hours, your ipod won't. That's not any problem for probably most ways you'd use this, but I'm a massage therapist and bought this because I'm tired of cd's messing up in the middle of massages. But, I'd rather that then the whole thing just stopping in the middle of a massage...or it not lasting through a whole work day and needing to be sure both are turned off between massages...and then back on...and then back off and so on. I spent $40 on this, and $65 on rechargeable batteries and their charger. Hmm, so to use this cost me over $100, and I still have to worry about battery life and taking batteries out and back in, and charging up the ipod every night. So, as I'd said, it just depends on how your going to use it. Obviously I need something that plugs in -and- charges the ipod while in use. I do think this is a great little thing and had to give it 3stars because it'd be good for so many other things and am tempted to keep it for other uses, but I'm returning it.
WOW ! May 13, 2008 I was shocked that all the reviews listed were so right on. This unit it PERFECT for its size. It actually keeps up with my logictec mini house stereo (100.00). Great buy, you can't go wrong. Big sound, little price and very compact. Trust these reviews, they are right on.
Great Little Product! March 31, 2008 My toddler loves to watch videos on my iPhone when we're out restaurants, at the Dr's office, or in the car. Unfortunately she also likes to push buttons, which puts a quick end to her video fun. I got the iMainGo so she could play with my video ipod instead, and we love it! We can set the volume, start the video, hit the hold button and she can watch without changing anything. We also like to hang it off the stroller handle and listen to music on our walks. Like others, I wish I could charge the ipod in the case but it is a small price to pay for the benefits.
Does What It's Supposed To Do...& Well! March 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was looking for a portable iPod dock, but couldn't seem to find one. I already have a JBL Micro, but it's not the best for taking from room to room. Then I found the IMainGo. Most reviews commented on its incredible sound, especially given its size.
It was simple to setup, and even came with a pack of AAA batteries...very nice for instant gratification. I have an iPod Generation 5 30gb. I placed it in it's specified tray, placed it in, turned it on, and wallah, music. Great great sound. And loud. Not what you'd expect to come out of something so small.
Now I take it into the kitchen while cooking, bathroom, and at my desk. It's also great for my nightstand...perfect sound to put me to sleep. I even downloaded a sound soother waterfall white noise, and it is great in the background. Music sounds incredible. I listen to a lot of podcasts, and the sound is spectacular!
One suggestion though. It does best with larger kbps files. So if you're downloading, and disk space is not a problem, go for files of 160-320. The better the food you feed it, the better it sounds. This is my favorite iPod accessory.
If you asked what I wished it had, I would say a remote and access to it's charging port for ac power. That said, those suggestions are nitpicking. This is a quality user that's fun to use, and a pleasure to listen to.
