1 out of 5 stars don't like this product   April 14, 2008

I had gotten my rca lyra at wallmart, no damage in the packaging, looked good, I got it home, It lasted a month, I dropped it 3 times, and the third time it messed up and starting saying files corrupted and file error. Something came loose in its hard drive, and I couldn't get it to work again, do not buy!

1 out of 5 stars Don't say you weren't warned if you choose to buy Rca's mp3   April 11, 2008

RCA does not stand behind is product! I bought an MP3 that they admit is DEFFECTIVE but they will charge me $62 for a replacement when I paid $59 for it at a local store! And no there products are NOT Vista compatible. They don't have any other alternative drivers or software for vista at this point. But I found a way around that to find out that the Mp3 player itself is deffective. Spent an hour on the phone with customer service and she told me I should send it back but I would have to pay more to replace it than I paid for it new! There customer service also informed me I wasn't the only one with these problems! STAY AWAY FROM RCA!!!! I had a similar thing happen some years ago with an rca VCR!

3 out of 5 stars Last only one year, then boom!   January 26, 2008

I have always bought RCA. This is the first of thier prouducts that failed after one year.
It worked great, easy to download music. It sounds great too!
But... after one year, the battery went out. I called for repairs and the warrenty went out 2 months earlier. The cost, 99.95 to fix, not including S & H. The Lyra is made by a company named Thompson. They really don't care about customer service or a lasting product.
It still works as long as I keep it plugged into the charger. But then whats the point of having it?
Sorry, but I won't buy another. Now I'm planning on a 8 or 30 gig Zune.

1 out of 5 stars There's a pattern with this player   December 16, 2007

Just like with a number of the other reviewers, this MP3 player lasted for about six months and then the battery wouldn't hold a charge. Is this a problem with the MP3 player or just a number of people upset and therefore writing bad reviews? You decide; but no matter how cheaply I could buy this player, 'I won't get fooled again'.

1 out of 5 stars Awful in many ways   December 10, 2007

I had this player for about 2 years and just seem to be encountering problem after problem with this player, I have finally replaced it with an IPod. First, I could never get it figured out how to import a playlist. Even after several calls to technical support who could not help me either. It freezes up every now and then too, you just have to wait for the battery to die before it fixes itself. For the past few months I have been battling the headphone plug which has stopped working. I occasionally get sound in 1 earphone and that is only if it is in exactly the right spot, which makes for a frustrating workout for sure. I would not reccomend this player for anyone, it has just been a frustration and I should have taken it back while I could.
